Coleman has been better, and I don't even hate the lines as they are. But, Monahan seems like his body is finally loosening up from his 1000 surgeries. If he's getting to 100% finally, a Lindholm/Monahan/Backlund 1 thru 3 down the middle looks soooo much better.

Well then he can get gone with backlund!

Andrew Mangiapane - Sean Monahan - Dillon Dube
Milan Lucic - Mikael Backlund - Blake Coleman

Dube has been bad. Probably my most disappointing flame this year tbh

These lines might work in getting Dube going as well. I know they tried this earlier, but Monahan was having a rough go at that time.

Also, while I don’t think Monahan is as bad defensively as some say, if that line is a designated shutdown line, Backlund/Coleman makes more sense.

Lucic and Monahan seem to work. Dube is a bit of a mess - you could maybe switch him to go with Backlund and try Mangiapane with Lucic and Monahan.

Hopefully Johnny doesn't get scared by the canon during warmup!

That trio has played just 24 minutes together at even strength this season and absolutely dominated in the process. It's definitely worth looking at with Dube and Mangiapane both struggling so heavily.

I thought Dube was noticeably engaged and solid in wall battles against the Blues, though it was a game where every player in red looked good.

Intrigued by Ruzicka again tonight. He certainly deserved another look given his play against St. Louis. Would love to see him keep his momentum; not even talking about scoring, but he was solid in keeping plays going a good 6-8 times something we haven't seen much from the fourth line.

And Monahan interesting to watch again of course.

Forget the goal, the charge to the net by Monahan last game is what really signified a change in his game and output to me. We haven't seen a play like that from him in 2 years. Despite not being fleet of foot he used to bust to the net like that with consistency in his first 3-4 seasons. That was encouraging to see.

If Backlund and Dube can start scoring some goals we will be invincible. Let’s go Flames !

Pretty hard to argue otherwise for sure.

Dube is a funny player. He seems to make a lot of mistakes, but is then really good at putting his effort into overdrive in order to recover from it. In the end, it balances it out. I also think it is only a matter of time until his points start to increase.

He has all the tools, just needs to keep working with Sutter to build the tool box.

What ever happened to Mony with Mangi and Doobs??

Didn't they look like a promising trio early.

Dube's compete level is really high.

I think that he struggles with the defensive side of the game being on the wing, pretty much the same as Backlund during his wing experiment, and it effects his offensive output as well.

When you are used to the pressure of covering the slot on the defensive end, and then facilitating breakouts to the wing, it's hard to rein things back to work the boards and jump for the first pass out. Even when he's doing the job well, it probably feels like he is not doing enough, and he overcompensates leading to errors.

He doesn't seem to get that 'less is more' on the wing, when he does have that high compete level.

I'm not sure if that makes sense at all.

And that’s why Sutter didn’t keep him with Monahan and Mangiapane. IIRC Dube moved to centre shortly after that. He’s wing now, but since then Sutter hasn’t wanted to move Mangiapane off of the second line.
