This could be Darryl Sutter’s biggest challenge — playing a floundering provincial rival that has lost 46 straight games, and stomping on their neck instead of taking them lightly.

This is basically Edmonton’s Stanley Cup to try and turn around their season, so I expect 97/29 will play early and often.

I hope to see a classic Sutter road game: push the pace early, get a lead, weather the storm, and then pour it on when the opponent starts losing hope. LFG.

Is this likely to be broadcast in 4K on Sportsnet? I’ll be watching on a bit of a tape delay, and I am wondering if it is worth recording the 4K feed as well.

This is the most excited I've been for a Flames game in some time.

GFG!

Have to think Edmonton, like they did against Florida, will come out like a house on fire to start things.

If they get that first goal they're a different team.

Hopefully the Flames can just play a details game calmly off the start, and then have that turn to panic for Edmonton if they don't get the results.

Most fun would be a first minute goal by the Flames and things slide for the home side quickly.

Bottom line, first goal or not, just be patient, stay out of the box, ride McDavid and get shot volume.

Darryl has to get the troops ready for this one. You have to win these games when they are served up. The so-called hockey experts need to cut the bulls#$t, the Oilers are one of the worst teams in the NHL and those 2 points should be expected for good hockey teams.

Very few games are broadcast in 4K, but when they are, I can notice the difference. The picture is a bit sharper and better dynamic range with the colours and shadows. Nothing earth shattering, but a little better. Definitely not as noticeable as the difference between SD and HD.

I wouldn’t pay extra for it, but since it is included and my TV and cable box supports it, I’ll tune to it when the broadcast exists.

This is a big opportunity for the Flames to distance themselves from the Oilers and kick them when they are down. Typically the Flames don't rise to the occasion in games like this but I'm sure Darryl has done his best to prepare them. I just hope the defense is a little more aware when McDavid is on the ice as they have been in the past. The forwards need to play him hard like the Panthers did allowing him no space. First goal of the game is going to be important.

Be hard on 97 from start to finish, glue someone to him when possible (Coleman seems like a good candidate) and don't hit the stat sheet with PIMs.

Pucks deep and make the Oilers D retrieve while under duress. Forecheck like their careers are at stake. Do that and turnovers will happen.

Backlund needs to snap out of whatever funk he has been living in and get with the program too. Such a frustrating guy at times.

I really hope that our 3rd pairing doesn’t get exposed tonight. Tippet absolutely loves trying to get his big boys out against our 3rd/4th line and 3rd d-pairing. It doesn’t end well when he succeeds.

That said I hope the Flames lay a beating on the Oilers, but I see it being a close back and forth game. This is a huge game for both teams, and there will be a ton of emotion to start.

I sure missed the battle of Alberta!
