The Carolina Hurricanes made a deal with the Pittsburgh Penguins dealing star deference Erik Karlsson, prospects Cam Hillis and Patrik Puistola for Roman Josi and Jamieson Rees.
The move comes as both organizations hope to shake up the lineups and send a message to the rest of their respecting teams that the on ice play has been unacceptable
Moving from the Hurricanes is their leading scorer Karlsson, plus highly touted Canadiens prospect Hillis. A player that the Hurricanes scouting staff had targeted for a long time and finally acquired in the off season. Also joining them is Puistola is a underrated finnish forward who looks to make a name for himself in the upcoming World Jrs
Leaving Pittsburgh s is Roman Josi, who will temporary fill and occupy Karlsson spot on the roster, till eventually the Hurricanes scouting staff can move him elsewhere. With Josi the Canes acquire the rights to OHL prospect Jamieson Rees who positioned himself last draft out of range of the Hurricanes draft hopes.
The Canes have had many opportunities to acquire Josi in the past and have always passed, it will be interesting to see how long his stay in Raleigh ends up being
