Green Day Dookie for me too. Specifically Woodstock '94 on TV, thats also what really got me wanting to learn guitar.

From there of course it went wild...Hendrix, Metallica, EVH, and so on. But I've discovered that ever since Green Day, I typically have a favorite 'current' band. By 'current' I just mean putting out new, and interesting music or whatever.

Green Day -> Korn -> Mudvayne -> Lamb of God -> Avatar

I was also a lucky SOB and Green Day was my first concert ('98 Edgefest). My Dad drove me and two buddies to the stadium and dropped us off. Now with my boy turning 12 this year...the circle is coming around...

First musician: Probably Billy Idol who my cousin got me into.

First "Band": Metallica. My sister told me to listen to "One" probably around 1990 and I was hooked.

I got that cassette for my birthday along with a (non-Sony) walkman. I remember listening to it at my birthday party though the headphones when all my friends were there. I suppose it wasn't very polite, but definitely prepared me for years of riding the CTrain.

Wow - takes me back to sticking their cassette into my bright yellow walkman and doing my paper route at 5am. Made the time fly by.

Dark Side of the Moon
Zeppelin 4

Then things really changed when Van Halen (1) came out - game changer for me. Same for The Cars first album

I saw The Tea Party @ grey eagle a couple years after having seen OLP and some other 90s bands that were really starting to show their age. I was expecting The Tea Party to be on a similar decline but nope, Jeff's voice hasn't lost an ounce of power. I've seen them live almost 10 times now and would put them in that top tier of bands with live shows that always surpass their albums, like Pearl Jam and Tool.
