Not a huge surprise based on his play lately.

At some point we start talking about Monahan being injury prone, right?
It seems every year his body breaks down.

I think it is probably fair to say that Monahan has played most of his career injured. It is just incredibly unlucky for him and for the Flames.

Seems like we get this thread about halfway through every season

Yeah, I think we are there. I think Monahan has been getting work done just about every single off season since 2016.

With recent results, they should just shut him down.
He isn’t helping the team win games.
Shut him down, give him an extended period to get whatever surgery he needs done and then a lengthy stretch to rehab/get healthy before next season.

maybe his wrist? History of problems and shot has been barely used this year (soreness?)
Real bummer. I hope that the surgery they're clearly thinking for offseason really addresses it. Maybe time to see a new specialist.

If it's his wrists again I feel awful for him. His shot is his greatest asset and it's clear he's not as effective without it

I almost agree with you but the hopeless idiot in me says, wait until they are officially mathematically eliminated.

Not directed at you but the general idea Idea that Monny plays with no heart is absolutely absurd. In fact his will to compete DESPITE having (from memory) injuries to his wrists, ribs, groin
And others at great peril to his longevity says otherwise.
This guy gives it all for this franchise.
Let's not forget that Backlund many moons prior went through the same injury cycle before finally getting and staying healthy for long stretches of time.
The problem is, the Flames don't really have the center depth to give Monahan the games off to heal up.
Sucks, but he's a true warrior for this Organization.

If true, this sucks for him and all fans.
How good could he have been if he was durable/luckier with injuries?!

It has a lot to do with where he plays. Let no one question this kid’s commitment. He stands in the thick of it every game.

It is what players need to do to be successful, but there aren't many that get banged up as badly or as regularly as he does.

Yep that’s exactly right for Monahan. I have never questioned his toughness and willingness to get to scoring positions.
Now be it injuries or whatever I’d say he is kind of what he is at this point.
