Whatever happened of Keith Gretzky? A year ago he was penciled in to be the 1a) GM of the Oilers and a hot commodity to lead the Oilers into the 2030s, it was just that Holland came around to nudge him out but he was going to be front and center and a key peice for years to come.
If he's not the prime example of the Oilers controlling the press up there, the 2 week media barrage (it happens before a coach or gm is hired or fired up there like clockwork) praising him, which ends up getting along to TSN to be a national sports story like Lowe likes, I don't know what is.
In this case too, toss in Lowe and some of the said press making sure they give enough praise to be able to stay close enough to Wayne to smell his jock, too.

That was posted at 5.14pm.
Why does that matter?
Because it was posted 74 minutes after the 4pm draw time.
Today, at 4pm, was to be the draw, after nearly 3 weeks past the original draw date.
But yet, 4pm came and went, and they left up a "finally! we are going to draw the winning ticket today at 4pm!!".
Until 5.14pm.
19 days past the draw date, and yet they still found a way to be an additional 1 hour and 14 minutes late.
Just to announce that, well, you know, they would continue to be late.
No Good.

So they're delaying the delay?
That's like how they're still rebuilding the rebuild.

Kevin Lowe spent his life savings on Oiler lay-off 50/50 tickets. He then complained to Katz when he didn’t win and now is trying to get his money back. Katz knows that Kevin knows a thing or two about winning and is changing all his pharmacies into 50/50 ticket kiosks

It is amazing how poorly managed that 50/50 draw has been. It is almost a month now and it is just one thing after another delaying that draw. The other day I heard that the winner was only going to have 3 days to claim their money or something like that. I don't know what the initial terms and conditions were for claiming the prize when the tickets were initially sold but if this is a new condition they are applying weeks after the ticket sales I can't see this being contractual legal.

More like someone realized the interest on retaining 15M even just a couple more days...

At 2% (good luck getting that on overnight money) it is a little over $800 per day. The administration costs they are burning through trying to sort this out are no doubt considerably greater than that.
More importantly, the people handling lottery funds do not have access to those funds for their own gain. They are held in a trust account.

Is there any truth that the first 2 50/50 winners worked for Remax in Edmonton??

I don't know, but the observation that Edmonton is no good is entirely true.

One definitely did, the other was just a coincidence, the fellow had the same name as another Remax agent but was a pipe fitter. There was considerable local outrage regardless.

And the winner is Oilers fan Craig McTavish.
Congratulations Craig

Subtle, but totally on point.
Solid contribution.

I just looked at the official Oiler site and it had this to say about Kevin Lowe:
Quote:
A new era in Oilers' history was ushered in when Lowe was named to the position of General Manager on June 9, 2000. With the announcement, the first-ever draft pick in Oilers' history replaced Glen Sather, who held the position since June of 1979. Lowe's appointment came a year after he was named Head Coach of the Oilers on June 18, 1999. Over those years the team's payroll was annually near the bottom of the league however the team was a league leader in dollars spent for points earned in standings including many playoff appearances. As GM, he became one of only 40 general managers in the history of the NHL to get his team to the Stanley Cup finals in 2006, losing in game seven to the Carolina Hurricanes.
|
It brings up a couple of questions:
1) When do they raise the banner for being a league leader in points earned per dollars spent?
2) How did 40 GMs get to the Stanley Cup Finals in 2006? Is that when the Oilers had 38 owners? Were they all GMs too?
