Watched Tom Hanks latest, Finch.
I enjoyed it, but didn't go in expecting a lot.
Film has a Cast Awayish vibe to it, as he is the only human in the whole film.

It is safe for dog lovers.
I found it to be quite average. For someone ina survival situation he does a lot of obviously bone headed stuff and there never seems to be much stakes, and a few plot threads are introduced that ultimately don’t matter or aren’t explained.

French Dispatch - Somehow even more pretentious and quirky than his previous work but still enjoyable. I'm glad we have guys like Wes Anderson making films.
Last Night in Soho - Although not my favorite genre, the 60s scenes were great and so is Anya Taylor Joy. Very good.
Venom 2 - I usually enjoy this type of stuff and take it for what it is, really hated it.
Night House - Might be my 2nd favorite horror movie behind Hereditary.

Rebecca Hall makes Night House better than it should be. It's a good movie and all and the pretzel story sort of makes sense at the end when you put it together but there's some big holes left that are never explained.

Absolutely, Rebecca Hall is the reason I went to see it and she's incredible. Very recently I've been growing to appreciate these type of movies, Hereditary was a turning point as I really liked that.
Any others similar anyone can recommend? Anything slasher I can pass on, have no time for anything like Saw, Halloween, etc.

Have seen both of those, very good. I also enjoyed Oculus, It Follows, Get Out, Invisible Man, The Babadook and the Conjuring movies. I know Malignant was meant to be a bit silly but didn't care for it much.

My daughter is into horror movies and we saw Antlers this weekend. Not bad, better cast than your typical horror. Its the creature feature genre.
Also saw No One Gets Out Alive on Netflix. Good premise, meh execution.

You can give Neon Demon a try. I liked it but it's a little polarizing as you either really like it or you don't as it's kind of an artsy movie that's heavy on visuals and mood.

Saw Neon Demon and promptly bought the BluRay! Have been a huge Jena Malone fan since Donnie Darko so I looked into it, love it.
Just chasing that high I got from Hereditary, finding something as creepy and that well done will be tough.
I'm wondering what Disappointment Blvd. will be like? Written and directed by Ari Aster. Joaquin Phoenix, horror comedy?

I watched Army of Thieves this past weekend.
I thought it was a really enjoyable movie.
Review: Army of Thieves is a smart, witty, and ultimately poignant heist thriller
Not many zombies, but loads of Wagner and the return of our fave goofy nerd Ludwig Dieter.

Watched The Green Knight. Wanted to like it, but hated it. However, I think that's almost entirely because I had absolutely no idea about the source material ( 14th century poem) so it seemed closer to an insane fever dream. Not sure if I was too high or not high enough while watching it.
What I would say is that it would be great for grade 12 English classes to read the poem, then watch the movie when the teacher is hungover. I recall reading from the The Canterbury Tales in my A.P. class written pretty much the exact same time so I assume it could be replaced.

Some recent-ish non slasher horror films:
A Girl Walks Home at Night
We Are Still Here
The House of the Devil
Kill List (maybe a bit disturbing)
The Void
Baskin (also maybe kind of disturbing)
The Alchemist Cookbook (Wasn’t a fan but it would fit in the A24 style if you like that sort of thing)
The Conspiracy (halfway decent found footage film)
Luz
Possessor

I loved the insane fever dream aspect of it. Great film.
