Sorry, but what does “it’s” refer to? The building (the Emporium, I guess)? The lights? Something else?

The lights. I ordered them from Light My Bricks. They are rumored to be working with Lego on a lighted set in the future.

I could visit a part store in town and find similar materials for much cheaper. The design is lazy as well, as the cords are not cut to length. The instructions are to wrap excess wire around some of the circuit boards.

Interesting. Debated ordering some light kits in the past, but the price seems steep. Like you said, I've always thought they would (or should - lol) be quite easy to make yourself, but I would at least like to see how one is made before I attempted to light my own. And for that reason I might still order one if they go on sale

Received the Stranger Things set for Christmas. Wow, really blown away! This this is a huge build at 2,287 pieces but was so much fun, never felt repetitive, it is totally amazing how you can flip it to stand with either the regular world of the Upsidedown on the top.!!!

Not sure how I'm going to rearrange the Lego shelves to fit this in, may have to slide the Batcave and The Hobbit Mines of Moria apart to make room.

I thought about the U[side Down but ended up getting my son the Central Perk set for Christmas, a bit cheaper and easier to display. But that looks awesome!

I put this up on youtube to show my nieces. We had grand plans to set this up this a few weeks ago but obviously it didn't work out. Had plans to build a tunnel for the train, but never got around to it. All paint by numbers sets here.

https://www.lego.com/en-ca/product/porsche-911-10295

$199.99 available March 1st (2/16 for VIP).

You can build it as a Turbo or Targa model. The roofline seems a tiny bit off for me but I still can't wait to build it.

Lego has gone from kids toy to overpriced adult luxury item.

Don't get me wrong, that's a decent size and good piece count but holy #### these sets are expensive.

Or maybe I'm just getting old and cheap.

It wasn't the price I was swearing at, it's the fact that I already have a growing backlog and I'll be ordering this the second it's released to VIP.

As to the expensive part, I think this conversation has come up before. Comparable sets (adjusting for inflation) are cheaper today than they were in the 80's. Using an example; the Cosmic Fleet Voyager, (393 pieces, ages 7-12), the Sears Wishbook had it listed at $45 (USD) in 1986. Adjusted for inflation that's ~$105 now, ~$135 CAD.

A non-licensed, similar age/piece count set could be the Lunar Space Station, which has an MSRP of $80 CAD today.

I think the biggest difference is there were no behemoth sets available in the 80s, and certainly nothing targeted to an adult crowd. It's hard to compare apples to apples in this thread, as most posts are about the 18+ sets. There's still hundreds of cheap(er) sets out there if you're looking at a children's set. They never went from a kids to adult target market, they just target both now.

This is the current Lego 911 I have, and it was $19.99

I find that with most of the Lego cars. I wanted to get the DB5 but the roofline seemed way off.

Damnit, I just picked up the Ecto-1 for my birthday and now I'm going to have to get this as well. Haven't started Ecto-1 but will share when I do. My previous lego experience (other than as a kid) is building Speed Champions cars with my son.

I just found out about the LEGO Bansai tree and just ordered that (Walmart happened to have some), if I'd have known about the 911 I'd have probably got that instead.

If you're interested I'd purchase the Bansai for what you paid and you could put that towards the 911.

I just built this one! Haha, with us being in lockdown and only 'essential' stores open theres not much to do and I picked it up at the grocery store. I am actually quite impressed for a cheap kit and the difficult curves of the 911 it displays really nicely!

After looking at the 911 from a few different angles I think I like the tree better for where I had in mind to put it. Sorry!
