Can we talk about their awful, awful new library?

This quote sums it up.

Quote:
The building received criticism last year after people got a look at the new, modern angular structure that didn't quite match its blueprint, and online memes compared it to a military tank and even a dumpster.

Carmelita Ryan-Kelly, who went with her friends, was one of the first to tour the library after its doors opened.

"It may look funny outside, but it's not funny inside.”

No I don't think so, A friend was the transportation supervisor for the equipment on that film. The most northern location in Alberta was shot at Crescent Falls/Abraham Lake and as far south as a ranch in Nanton and a bunch spots in between mostly in Kananaskis and near Calgary, I think it was a failed shoot at Crescent Falls as well and they re-did the shoot in Montana when they left. I remember him telling me the director was pissed when shooting near Calgary because it was too warm and all the snow was gone, they even tried trucking in snow to Bow Vista Ranch for a scene.

I think I would have heard about Edmonton because he like everyone else around here thinks Edmonton = NG

I finally was able to put my finger on what it looks like. And it's the most 80s thing ever.

I spent a lot of quarters playing Battlezone when I was kid. Loved that game.

Also, it's prettier than Edmonton.

They're so proud of the revamped "beauty" of their downtown, yet in the next breath insist that what's inside matters when it comes to bibliotank. Reeks of insecurity over their ####y spending of hundreds of millions. But in truth that structure is more Edmonton than any of the shiny towers they mounted in the past five years. I'd say that architect did their homework diligently. Bravo.. bravo.

It was shot almost entirely in Kananaskis. My aunt worked on that movie, apparently it was a pain in the ass to shoot because the director insisted on only using natural light for every scene, which is in short supply during the winter. Also DiCaprio is every bit a primadonna as everyone believes

I know a couple of the families that lived in the same cul-de-sac. The only PG story I can share about Leo's time there is him and Tom Hardy shooting fireworks off the back deck for new years.

Fun Fact: If you want to see the inside, the same house is in season 1 of Fargo.

Fun Hockey Fact: That lot was originally owned by Rick Tabaracci

Que the Oiler fans stating how Toronto is 24th so who cares and they’d sooner have the higher drafts picks, which they meaninglessly farted away.

That is impressive to be so bad for such a long time to be the only team under a 500 points percentage, in a league that gifts teams points for losing games. That is impressive.

Even their year that they had their run to the finals, they barely squeaked into the playoffs over the Canucks in the second last game or the last game. They then managed to mess up every single trade, signing, or draft pick before being gifted McDavid.

Over a decade of incompetence over different owners, GMs, coaches, players, farm teams (remember them splitting teams), arenas...

The Globe has this awesome quote from KLown about the Stanley Cup being back in Edmonton, albeit just for a visit...couldn't resist posting this gem:

Quote:
“A friend of mine just messaged me this morning about the cup being awarded in Edmonton and I said `Well it’s a fitting place for it actually,”' said Lowe in an interview.

"You can pick Montreal and a few other obvious cities, but in more recent times Edmonton is synonymous with the Stanley Cup.
Recent? It's been 30 freakin' years Kevin! Glaciers have melted.... The Berlin Wall fell.... They've made like 9 Star Wars movies since then.....

This man's sense of time is so warped...
