I just avoided a MASSIVE customs lineup at Vancouver customs yesterday because of it. That right there made it worth it.
I fly in and out of Canada quite a bit (2-4 times a month minimum), and it's saved my bacon a few times with connections and re-routing. You can also go through a Nexus security line at most Canadian airports. My wife has it, our 6 yr old has it, and we are waiting on an "interview" for my 9 month old daughter.
Treat it like a self checkout though. If you can't work the machines get out of my GD way, or use the teller. Be prepared for the holiest of stink eyes if you're holding me up because you don't know how the machines work.

I have a few family member who have it.
I think if your going to the states once or twice a year for a vacation it is not that big of a deal either way.
If you own property there or travel for business regularly its worth it.
I think the time investment is bigger than the financial one in getting the card, so you should be traveling regularly to really re-coup the time investment.

I like how people assume that it's only used to enter the US.
Pay no attention to the domestic NEXUS lines or TSA Pre Check lines. Total scam. Worst $50 you'll ever spend.

The more Nexus cardholders there are, the crappier it will become for those of us who already have them. Therefore it makes sense for us to a) have people think they only work for travel to/from the US and b) is an invasion of privacy and c) a waste of money. Nexus sucks, don't bother.
Those of us who do have them love hate them and think it's a waste of money.

Can the mods please close this thread? There are some vicious lies being thrown around that some people enjoy the Nexus pass. These claims are libel. I don't want the thread to keep getting bumped, as others will read it if it is. I also recommend a sin binning for anyone who continues with these actions. Thanks.

Best Nexus experience ever.
Went to LA for the long weekend. Dude watches me bypass the long line on my way to the Nexus kiosk, and follows. Obviously not a Nexus cardholder, he gets frustrated after repeatedly trying to scan his eyes over and over.
Dude, clue in please... but I can't say it because this is so entertaining. Finally, he kicks the machine and says (fairly loudly) f this!! Soon hauled away by US immigration personnel and most likely liquidated.

Are you allowed to get it if you only go to the US 1-2 times a year?
I am guessing everyone in your party would need it so how would that work with kids and babies? Can they get it if you have one?

You can get it even if you don't go to the US at all...
If you cross a land border, in order to use the NEXUS lane, you would need everyone in your vehicle to have it.
If you're flying with friends, f--- them and skip the line. Only people with NEXUS can use the NEXUS lane, even if you're a family of 4 and only you have NEXUS, you can skip the line, but the rest of your family can't.

Does this eliminate the requirement to bring your passports with you when you cross, or do still need to present it?

Indeed it is.
This is totally a good time to reminisce about Goatmeal Crisp.

The iris scan is taken by the Canadians for our NEXUS terminals. Fingerprints are required for the US's global entry. I had heard that that the US customs at YYC has only the Global Entry machines now but haven't been through in a year. I guess you could be concerned that they have your fingerprints if your some sort of dumbass criminal that doesn't own a pair of gloves.

So, despite all the negative reviews on here I applied this morning and am now waiting to hear about the next step (interview?).
Can anyone comment on questions to expect, any tips etc?

Not sure but you can expect an interview sometime in November/December at the Calgary Office.
