I sit at my hotel at night, I think of something that's funny, then I go get a pen and I write it down. Or if the pen's too far away, I have to convince myself that what I thought of ain't funny - mitch

“There’s a fascinating frailty of the human mind that psychologists know all about, called “argument from ignorance.” This is how it goes. Remember what the “U” stands for in “UFO”? You see lights flashing in the sky. You’ve never seen anything like this before and don’t understand what it is. You say, “It’s a UFO!” The “U” stands for “unidentified.”
But then you say, “I don’t know what it is; it must be aliens from outer space, visiting from another planet.” The issue here is that if you don’t know what something is, your interpretation of it should stop immediately. You don’t then say it must be X or Y or Z. That’s argument from ignorance. It’s common. I’m not blaming anybody; it may relate to our burning need to manufacture answers because we feel uncomfortable about being steeped in ignorance.”

If you showed me that photo with no other context and asked me what I thought it was. I'd say it's one of those Mylar party balloons shaped like the number 1.

DING DING DING. We have a winner! That's exactly what it was. I was reserving this photo, which is what took it from a UFO to an IFO.

Spoiler!

The point was, lots of things can look like something else, until they become obvious what they actually are. I think most UFO stories fall in this category.

Penis was a good guess, though, Hockeyguy15.

Anyone catch the starlink satellites go over last night at 11:37?

I was completely dumbfounded at what i was witnessing and thought i was imagining things... but thanks to google was able to figure it out.

I'll try and get a video loaded... they aren't high quality but may give you an idea of what it looked like.

from about 11:35 to 11:40 last night moving west to east across the sky looked like like this:

I was out towards priddis (just north of the Rothney odservatory) when I spotted a strange streak in the western sky.

It moved across the sky above us before we lost it in the city's light glow. Looked like a string of glowing pearls moving across above us - they were tighter together than the image above and about as long as my thumb held at arms length. I shot a few videos with my iPhone but they aren't very impressive (although will be a fun memory for me).

I was really dumbfounded trying to figure it out... thought maybe it was something breaking up as it entered the atmosphere but was moving far too slowly.

Yeah, weird. I just happened to look out the window right as it came into view and I watched it move across the sky.

Looks like the cluster will make two passes later tonight as well...

First at 9:55pm from the WSW until 10:04. It may be a little bright to see them well at that time.

Second pass at from 11:35 from the WNW until 11:40 pm ending in the north.

The 1st will be brighter, longer and pass almost directly overhead but the sky may not be as dark.

Heaven's Above link.

Ah sorry I really misread your post.

They'll fade and spread out as they go to their designated orbits and altitudes.

But not everyone is happy about how a full constellation of 10,000+ satellites would impact astronomy.

Here's the segment on UAP's from 60 Minutes tonight if anyone is interested:

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/ufo-mil...es-2021-05-16/

Unfortunately it doesn't show the recent Corbell release, but it gives a great overview of where things stand at the moment. Many key players in the UAP community are present in this segment.

Pretty fascinating story...

The story on the Nimitz sighting and the naval aviators who witnessed it was pretty compelling as it was 4 trained aviators, including the commander of the F/A-18F squadron on the USS Nimitz. So, in addition to their visual sighting (lasting around 5 minutes) there is electronic radar capture by the Nimitz itself...

this is augmented by the Youtube interview with the chief petty officer (Kevin Day) linked earlier in the thread...

Not saying its extra terrestrial, but compelling enough that it was the deputy assistant secretary of defense for intelligence that first leaked the information to the NYTimes.

now there is an official pentagon task force looking at sightings. Officially.

That 60 Minutes segment was very well done.

Just facts. And delivered in a credible way.

I was worried about how this was going to come accross when I first hear this was happening but that was actually great.

….. fun. Except we aren’t discussing images without commentary and making stuff up on our own. We are discussing the merit of trained observers saying that they cannot identify these objects….

But fun “gotcha”.

Bill Whitaker: What do you think when you see something like this?

Ryan Graves: This is a difficult one to explain. You have rotation, you have high altitudes. You have propulsion, right? I don't know. I don't know what it is, frankly.

He told us pilots speculate they are one of three things: secret U.S. technology, an adversary's spy vehicle, or something otherworldly.

Ryan Graves: I would say, you know, the highest probability is it's a threat observation program.

Bill Whitaker: Could it be Russian or Chinese technology?

Ryan Graves: I don't see why not.

Personally I don't really care where it comes from as much as I care if A) we as human society has access to this tech and can be used for purposes such as ultra-fast travel or space exploration, and B) it will galvanize nations to re-think things like infrastructure, energy, war, etc.

My speculative theory this is this is really dark private sector project stuff with companies like Boeing, Skunk Works, Lockheed Martin or General Dynamics done in conjunction with obscure government agencies to test the veracity of tech against modern militaristic capabilities, including aversion and stealth techniques. The fact that Fravor circled downward towards the object and it circle up in a similar pattern then disappearing suggests to me that it was engaging in close quarter reactionary maneuver testing. And I doubt these things are manned with any sort of carbon-based life form.

What would be cool is if this tech turns out to be closely related to the Alcubierre Drive concept.

"Bill Whitaker: Could it be Russian or Chinese technology?

Ryan Graves: I don't see why not."

Bad quote is bad. If the military thought it was Russian or Chinese technology they would have a much more aggressive strategy in dealing with these "incursions." They would not be taking a wait and see attitude. Also, the intelligence community would have a pretty good idea if it were Russian or Chinese tech. That statement is ignoring the fact that these craft have been observed in these areas for decades. That would mean the Russian or the Chinese have been tooling around in these physics defying objects for as long as airframes have been in existence. That doesn't add up. Add in the tech development history of these two countries, and their reliance on espionage and intellectual property theft, and it sounds a bad guess with little sabre rattling for good measure. Wouldn't be the first time 60 Minutes participated in a propaganda campaign.
