I'm not willing to move out of the first round to take a flyer on a guy who hasn't shown he can hack the NHL. Hell, he's only been average at the AHL.

only way Calgary would end up with him is with a 3rd team taking him and then shipping him to the Flames.

Similar to Mike Hoffman from Ottawa to San Jose (for 5 minutes) to Florida last summer.

I wouldn’t say the only way but the Flames would need the best offer on the table by a mile. I would never have thought we would trade Baertschi to the hated Canucks when he was 22 but apparently they had the best offer by far so Treliving took it as Aven made the same Threats Jesse is making now about Europe

Maybe Dillan Dube, but I think I'd rather keep Janko
Dube is likely to be a much better player than Jankowski.

If they would take frolik and czarnik it would be amazing. I would do janko for him but would try other options first.

That's interesting. I think I'd agree with you. Flames would move down, what 8 or 9 spots? I think that's a fair trade. I'd do it. From what I've been reading, it seems like from 20-50 in the draft, players are all ranked similar.

The move would be 12 spots I think. 26 to 38. The Flames don't have have a second rounder so that's a factor, too. Plus the Flames may get some other picks for Brodie/Frolik etc.

Guys on 960 this morning were saying the group from 20-55 were pretty interchangable. So thats not going to be a very enticing trade to anyone.

Interchangeable in their minds but not necessarily the teams

Sometimes there is a player available in the mid 20’s that a team has ranked in the teens. That’s when you see move up/down scenarios. Teams have widely different rankings. There’s no consensus in the draft at all, especially outside of the top few picks. A player could be top 20 on one teams list and not in the top 40 on another’s.

I mean besides pointing out the obvious, the point is there likely isn't much value in moving 12 spots up in that part of the draft. JP doesn't have much value but its likely more than that, especially with Hollands comments.

I guess you completely missed my point then?

There’s a hell of a lot of value moving up from the 2nd round if there’s a player still available the team has ranked in the teens.

I agree that Puljujarvi should have more value than that. David Rundblad was traded for a mid 1st and he never had the upside Jesse has.

Would easily give up a 2nd for him. But Jankowski/Dube is too much. Still can't believe how many posters want to trade Jankowski for scraps.

People don't like the apathetic look on Jankowski's face when the Flames are losing and they don't like that he is big but not physical.

I could go either way with Jankowski. I think he's a decent bottom 6 forward but I won't cry if he's not part of the plan going forward.

But again
- Teams wanted Czarnik because he was free. It's different when you are giving up an asset
- I would theorize that Czarnik's value is significantly less this year with another year gone by where he didn't do anything

I just don't see how he has ANY value.
