Flames set to open grill at YYC International Airport this fall
https://www.traveldailynews.com/post...tional-airport
Quote:
As part of a multi-year Domestic Terminal refresh announced by YYC Calgary International Airport, global restaurateur HMSHost has opened The Burger Federation between Concourse A and B near gate A24 in the airport. Additional dining developments from HMSHost include new restaurant ventures with the Calgary Flames NHL hockey team and celebrated local brewery and distillery The Last Best Brewing & Distilling.

Quote:
After nearly 40 years of electrifying Alberta hockey fans in Calgary, the Calgary Flames are skating into YYC with the Flames Grill, a new restaurant that honors the NHL team and its local legacy. Not just a sports bar though, the Calgary Flames Grill at YYC is a full-service venue in the airport featuring culinary delights from HMSHost that may be game day-inspired but have been carefully crafted to create a totally unique and modern menu to excite the tastes of all travellers.

Quote:
Burger Federation is now open for travellers to enjoy, to be followed by the opening of Calgary Flames Grill this fall and Last Best Brewing & Distilling in 2020. HMSHost will also renovate Starbucks® Coffee and Tim Hortons stores on Concourses A and C during the airport refresh timeframe.

Bet the Oilers wish they thought of this, could be serving up Bobby Nick's burgers before people fly off to a better city.

At least it's just another ####ty restaurant and not an area redevelopment plan.

Surely this will help pay for the new arena.
On a serious note, I dont recall a time the flames have pulled off food service successfully. Flames central was very mediocre.

This is a private restaurant management company who has merely licensed the Flames branding. Similar to the Flames Central setup. The team itself doesn't manage it.

Any word on how much the Flames are asking the City to pitch in for this?

I'm surprised the Oilers haven't started selling and marketing their own brand of bottled water. Their advertising slogan is already in place.

Bobby Nick's Burgers are a recognized biohazard and thus fall under the auspices of international aviation safety laws, whereas Rogers Place is governed by admittedly lax civic bylaws.

How about something in the international terminal?
In any case, airport restaurants are almost always awful and way overpriced.
