Default CP Slow?

CP has been intermittently slow for me for the last week. About 70% of the time it is totally fine but it seems to get super slow every once and a while loading pages be it a new post, edit or just browsing. Seems to load for about 30s and then finally goes through. When I'm posting, sometimes it directs me to the "you need to wait 30s between posts" as if the same post is being processed twice.

Am I alone in this? I thought maybe my home internet was acting weird but I haven't noticed it on any other sites and I'm now noticing it when I browse CP even when I'm not at home.

Yeah I was wondering if anyone else has been seeing it too or if it was just me, whenever I try opening an incognito window to try viewing as a not-logged in user it seems to be fast, so I thought maybe it was just something with my being an admin or something.

I was going through and pruning some of the really big threads which can cause this, but I think there may be a few left to do. That's the most likely cause.

So for Tapatalk, not only horrendously slow at times, and maybe this is Tapatalk only, but missing some recent posts.

For the nerdy, it looks like the database server is spending most of its time waiting for disk I/O. Nothing else has really changed, so I'm going to ask Vox if there's been something changed where the IO throughput has gone down.

Will also continue to prune down threads that are too big.

Ok asked Vox.

I'm also going to add something to the database that might help improve the performance of some of the slow queries, I'll probably have to put the forum offline to do that so I'll do that a bit later.

Ok until Vox gets back to me, let's see how much difference that made.

Hm, until I run another process (analyze the table's statistics) it doesn't appear what I did will have a significant benefit. That process might take a really long time as well, I'll probably have to give that a try tomorrow evening, it's a bit late now as I don't want to take everything offline for the whole night in case it takes a long time to run.

There'll also be intermittent lag spikes as I identify old large threads and move them to where they can't be seen so they don't cause undue load.

Just rebooted the database server, we'll see if that changes anything.

In case anyone is curious, it seems it was the reboot of the database server that fixed the issue. After rebooting there was one more load spike but after that things have been back to normal.

Yeah I'm not sure.. it's not doing anything like it was previously, the monitoring all looks pretty normal except for an increase in load, but I can't really see anything specific causing it.
