Maybe had 2 but Vasilevskiy covered a dribbling puck with his glove and evidence it crossed the line was inconclusive.

I think it is time to start running a daily tally:
1 Wayne Gretzky 894 [1487 GP]
2 Gordie Howe 801 [1767 GP]
3 Jaromir Jagr 766 [1733 GP]
4 Brett Hull 741 [1269 GP]
5 Alex Ovechkin 737, *25 Oct: 7G/6GP [1203 GP]

Score what? And what does the their exact age at the time the poll was created have to do with who scores whatever it is they're scoring first?

Yes.
But the poll has become irrelevant since this thread was launched nearly two years ago.

Why not just start a new thread. The Milestone March: Ovi Countdown to 800 or something like that.
PS: Man he's so close to overtaking Hull, that is crazy.

I’d so love it if he can also do a 50 in 50. Still early season though.

Might be better to go back to an earlier milestone thread like 500 or something so we can make fun of everyone who claimed he'd never get anywhere near the record.

Voted for Kodos

All this talk about Ovi approaching the top of the leaderboard, always makes me think if Mario.
690 goals
Missed 5 ENTIRE seasons
Another 5 seasons on top of that in which he played a maximum of 26 games.
After 1990, played more than 70 games in a season only once.
A healthy Mario probably would have ended up with 950 goals or more (also if there were no lockouts I suppose)

Ovechkin continues his quest tonight v. the Detroit Red Wings. Detroit has allowed an average of 3.5 GA/GP through six games.

Well now I'm torn, I want Ovi to score but I also want Lindholm and Mangiapane to be leading the league in goals..

I want the Flames to win. The individual scoring race doesn't concern me much.
Watching Ovi march towards the record is something to behold. Don't care about the Caps' fortunes (that much).

Like Jagr, Ovechkin also sat out through some lockouts and the covid epidemic cutting short a season.
I think he would be already at 800 at this point.

There was an old Ovi thread where people were extrapolating how many goals he's missed out on due to lockouts & covid.
I think the consensus was about 70-80, so well into 800 territory by now.

Even if he doesn't score for 40 games. Lindholm and Mangiapane won't be leading the league in goals.
