MEP for me. I like him a bit more than Pelletier.

Dmitry Zavgorodniy
That's not right, it's a transliteration.

His name is Дмитри Завгороднй.

Yeah I've been really happy with our drafting recently.

2019: Nikolaev, Nodler, and Wolf all have had mentions of "can't believe they got him there". I always like the talk of immediate home runs if things work out for late picks.

2018: Pospisil, Koumontzis, Pettersen, Zavgorodniy all seem like they've made huge gains since getting drafted. Pettersen, Pospisil, and Zavgorodniy were all named by Pronman as some of his "biggest risers".

2016: Parsons and Dube in the 2nd, Fox in the 3rd, Phillips in the 6th.

2015: Rasmus and Kylington in the 2nd, Mangiapane in the 6th.

Really? A lot of people can't even get Monahan (Monohan) right, or Hanifin (Hanafin, Hanifan, etc), I wouldn't have high hopes you'll see Zavygordon spelled correctly.

We'll find some nickname for him, even if it's just Zavy

I made a late audible and went with Pettersen instead of Pelletier. Just something about him, I'm excited for him

I basically vote based on trade value, and I think Jakob Pelletier probably has the most trade value out of everyone on the list.

Interesting to see the different criteria people are using to vote... I vote based on who I think the is the best player and is likely to be the best NHLer.

Yeah not that high on Parsons as last year. He still could be awesome but the shine/excitement is more muted this year for me.

Parsons has had two very bad seasons in a row. If you want to vote for a goalie, at least Zagidulin, Wolf, and even Schnieder are all coming off good seasons.

Yes you’re right, if you lower your expectations then this years crop does start to look better. I still think the drop off is pretty steep this year compared with previous years.

I guess if you're assessing players based on just that, sure.

Prediction: Parsons will start ~25 NHL games next season.

Edit: I guess I forgot it was summer. (20-21 season)

One bad year might be possible to excuse, but two bad years in a row? How many prospects make the NHL after two bad seasons? The number must be minuscule. And we're not talking about seasons that were a little down, or didn't show improvement (those are bad enough for a prospect), but Parsons had straight up BAD seasons.

'Bad' is a subjective term here. When assessing prospects, their stats don't really matter. What matters is development. And for a goalie, that can mean all kinds of things. For instance, if the coaches want to change the way the goalie holds his glove hand, that change might result in an awful season, stats-wise, but if it improves their technique, long term, it makes them a better prospect.
