Knowing this organization, they'll probably trade a bunch of futures in a determined effort to avoid finishing low enough to draft high.

Which would make no sense. Wouldn't you want to open a new arena with a couple extremely high end young players?
I'm not advocating for the team to tank, but spending resources to stay out of the bottom ten is an even more damaging strategy, to me.

Maybe I'm wrong but the guys that are seens as top 5 prospects at 15-16 years old but then drop in value as they approach the draft never seem to pan out.
Give me the guy that continually builds his value up to the draft and shows improvement year over year.

Well, if he goes when I think he goes he will be a too good to pass up option. I'm figuring that it's gonna be hog heaven on D men this draft in the top 6 to 9 range. Raty going anytime.e after puck #7 IMO is a good value pick.

Bedard and Michkov have crazy projected DY NHLe's.
I really hope they're generational talents just so we can move on from the McDavid hype.

I like Kane alot and think that he is a superstar player, but I am no where near thinking of him as a generational player.
Hughes has got a ton of work to do just to look like a star player, let alone superstar, or generational.

Started paying attention the last two days to other prospects in and around the top ten.
Really coming around on players like Chaz Lucius, Kent Johnson, Simon Edvinsson. Berniers ranks really high as well but he looks like the safe pick. I.e you'll get a ton of games from him but I don't know if he's that franchise guy.
And then there's Raty. I think he dipped but has come back a little. I like the centers in this draft. Not crazy franchise types but definitely some possible top 2 line center options. Especially in the flame range if they end up where they are.

Yeah not sure why Hughes is there. He is closer to a bust than generational
Kane belongs with Tarvares and Matthews. I’d even argue he is better

Could anyone explain D-2, D-1, DY for dummies like me?
I understand NHLe but not the former.

Where do those tweets say that everyone on the list is a generational player?
It's a simple NHLe comparison for #1 picks in the years prior to their draft.
Bedard's NHLe is much higher than everyone, which means he might be generational. It's still very early for him though.

Just takes into account their stats 2 years before their draft year, 1 year before, and in their actual draft year, converts that to the NHLe. For players not in their draft year yet (Bedard, Mich), I think it is just projecting what they could produce over the next 2 years and then uses the same conversion to find NHLe

I don't think that is the point of the chart. Rather, it looks to me like these are players who were all projected to be generational talents in their Draft-1/-2 years. Some turned out that way. Some did not.

I think those are all players who were granted the whole "exceptional status" or whatever.

Day, Veleno, and Ekblad are missing.
For Day and Veleno, it's obvious why. And Ekblad is a defenseman.
Not sure why Nathan MacKinnon wasn't listed though.

New mock up for us, representing a more 'reflective' standings than our last one. Lots changes in three weeks. Different author this time around, too.

8. CALGARY FLAMES: KENT JOHNSON, C/LW, UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN (NCAA)
At eighth overall, the Flames pick up one of the draft’s most purely skilled players in Johnson, who would be the third Michigan Wolverine to go in this year’s top 10. Johnson is a fantastic stickhandler who can open space in the offensive zone with his puck skills and agility. A gifted playmaker who finished second on Michigan this season in both points and assists, earning him a nod on the Big Ten’s All-Rookie Team alongside Power and Beniers.

Hope for a run on the D early and we get a shot at this kid.

Just looked at the overall league standings for the first time in a while and man we suck.
If we are going to suck this hard I won't mind a consolation top 10 pick and a lottery chance.
