Shane Wright is the real deal, he’d be a dream C to draft at this point, flames would never be that lucky. I thought he was 2022 along with Brad Lambert who will likely challenge for 1-2 and couldn’t go wrong with either of them.

Speaking of real deal...
@Hockey_Robinson
Here's how the exceptional status kids fared in their 15-year-old seasons:
• John Tavares 1.18
• Shane Wright 1.14
• Jason Spezza 1.06
• Connor McDavid 1.05
• Joe Veleno 0.69
And through 9 games..
• Connor Bedard 1.89 (19 points in 10 games).
Is a 15 year old already better than everyone projected to go in the 2021 draft? Bedard leads the WHL in points. 2nd place is 2021 draft eligible prospect Guenther.

He’s the next big thing.
If the Flames truly wanted a generational talent, that’s him right there.

So what tier is the next 3 first overall picks projected to be?
2021: Owen Power. Similar to Aaron Eckblad?
2022: Shane Wright. Similar to Auston Matthews?
2023: Connor Bedard. Similar to Connor McDavid?

The Flames are trending down at the right time for the next two drafts. If they are going to suck it's probably not a bad time.

Don’t forget about Matvei Michkov in 2023 either. Should be going 2nd OA right behind Bedard.

Holy crap, he's 6'6"!!! I like the sound sound of what you're saying in addition to that size! His father has been busy juicing him up

I see it now. Tre will trade our 2022 pick with lotto protection and then it will slide to 2023 and end up as the 1OA lol. That would be the most Flames thing.

If you think about it it's actually the perfect time to rebuild in the next 3 years and restock the cupboards. Draft some high-end talent and start a brand new era with a new core and new arena. The timing makes sense.

It really seems like a good time to rebuild. I just hope the team doesn't go re-tool and we miss on the chance on these top talents. Not to mention forcing us to watch the team compete for 8the place for 3 years

I wouldn't get too excited. Even if we tank and try to be as bad as possible there is still a high chance of missing out on these players.

You mean like Barclay Goodrow who had 2 pts in 22 playoff games when he was traded yet returned a 1st rd pick?
Teams wanting to shore up the C position will be very interested in Ryan.
He is a good faceoff guy, very responsible defensively, and a good PKer. Nothing not to like about his game and his strengths are very much in demand come playoff time.

Yeah that was an odd slag on a clearly useful utility player with leadership skills. He's pretty much plug and play in any situation up or down the roster and a right shot.
Not expecting a huge return but he would help any team.

I would be happy, but not surprised, if Ryan could fetch a third round pick. Same goes for Rittich. A lot of teams could use a goalie like him.
To get the thread back on the rails, we might want to start looking at prospects in the 50 to 100 range.

I would think Rittich would be attractive to any playoff bound team with goaltending question marks.

Acquire as many 2022 and 2023 1st rounders as possible.
There is no way the team bottoms out completely with Sutter, so if we have a chance to win either of those lotteries, I don't think it will be with our picks. Even if you subtract our best players, Sutter probably still grinds out 8th place finishes.

Go all in on Shane Wright. Blow it to smithereens to make it so.

I'd probably stay away from Raty at this point.
Maybe I'm wrong but the guys that are seens as top 5 prospects at 15-16 years old but then drop in value as they approach the draft never seem to pan out.
Give me the guy that continually builds his value up to the draft and shows improvement year over year.
