Good trade for both teams. Caps clearing out cap space to sign Carlson and get a 2nd round pick and the Avs get a serviceable defenseman and goaltender. I don't think Graubuer had 2nd round value.

That has to up the stakes for teams needing a goalie. Price just went up I think. Not a lot out there. Lehtonen looks to be the cream (curdled albeit) of the crop in FA. Unless they want Bernier.

Orpik would do well to last beyond next year in the NHL given he'll be 38 in October and how much he's slowed down and is having a lot of trouble keeping up with the pace, and he was never ever fast in the first place.

heck of a deal for the Avs imo... 26 year old goalie and a veteran DMan to help with the young players on the Avs team...

both for a 2nd? that's a nice deal

edit... ok well a little different if Orpik gets dealt but still good, but weird as it seems like he's a good addition
