Gaming Headphones Thread
Hi all, I was going to put this in the Xbone/PS4 thread but im sure it would just get lost in all the fanboy arguments so I started a new thread.
I recently broke my old Turtle Beach headphones (the call of duty MW3 edition) i believe they were 7.1 and wireless chat.
I am looking into a new set and have narrowed down the list to the following.
The TB Stealth 500X being released on Oct. 31/14 - these were announced at E3 and will not require that stupid xbox chat adapter so it will truly be wireless as the wireless dongle will work with the Xbone.
The Astro A50's - these have been out for a while and have some very good reviews.
I am just not sure if i will regret not waiting for the Turtle Beaches or not. I have read that most people agree the A50's have superior sound quality to previous editions of TB.
Any A50 users care you to share any opinions?
Thanks

I have Sennheiser PC360s and I like them, though the right speaker I think is having some issues (get buzzes sometimes) and the volume control is crackly when used.
Wouldn't mind trying these:

The PC360's are open so they don't get very hot.
Isolation is less though, which usually works for me but I am thinking of using my earbuds because the open cans let in the A/C noise (got an A/C for my home office this summer as working was becoming very difficult and it was that or move my entire office into the basement).

Sorry I should have been more specific (i guess thats what i get for posting while on hold with the government).
I will be using these on my xbone and most of the time using chat so a good mic to go along with good sound quality is important

Analog/USB vs a digital connection. Which would give you proper surround sound.
Hmmmm, let's look at the back of our home entertainment receivers.
Unless, your headset has 10 individual speakers, (it sure as shiiyite does not), then you're getting an artificial surround.
Me? I regularly get called a hacker, for how well I can identify locations of opponents by sound.
<NYAR>
Get a pair of Tritton's, or if anyone else has finally stepped their digital game, them too.
Mine are 3 years old, and I still regularly pwn newbs with em.

Haha I used to have a Medusa, which had 8 speakers as well. I still miss it, the Dolby Digital 3D stuff doesn't work well for me.
But since he's on an Xbox, how would a true 5.1 headset work? There's no breakout from the console is there? He'd have to get line-out from a receiver or something wouldn't he?

I used to use Trittons with the full 6 signal analog setup, but they were heavy, unconfortable, and cumbersome. So heavy in fact, that they fell off of my head frequently until they broke (in half).

Both headsets I was talking about have quality mics, I know PS4 has a jack on the controller that both plugged right into, what does xbone have?

There's a dongle, and an adapter/harness thing. An Xbox360, has SPDIF, so yep it'll have full digital surround.

Yep, they get hot too.
I make do, because honestly fellas, it's almost like cheating with these things.
