Ever since Tim Erixon, the Flames have been quick at getting these done for first round picks.

Tim Erixon wow what a joke! He made his bed and now he is lying in it. I can’t remember who his agent was but he should be ashamed. Welcome Pelletier looks like a keeper 👍

Surprised he's not getting a longer look purely for the experience.

Was he represented by his dad? I could be wrong though.

It's the "Best Valued Contract Signings" wall in the contract signing room.

First rounder money vs 6th rounder money.
Mangiapane's agent was trying to get him bumped up to the kind of money first rounders get on their second contracts, but Treliving didn't blink.

Good to get Pelletier signed. Do these contracts have any signing bonus? If so, a good fall treat for the kid.

Yeah, ELCs almost-always have signing bonuses that amount to 10% of the cap hit each season.

The good thing about the signing bonuses and ELC contract slide is that if Pelletier's contract does (i.e. he doesn't play 10 NHL games this season) in fact slide then his cap hit will go down as the bonus is paid out but the new cap hit is calculated based on remaining compensation minus the paid out bonus.
If Pelletier did get $925k including the $92.5k signing bonus and his contract did slide to next year, his cap hit would be $894.167k for next year.
May not seem like much but cap savings here and there can add up.

Good on Pelletier for showing up to camp and doing what the organization expected to see out of him. He earned this ELC and that signing bonus is a pretty nice reward for the hard work thus far. That's $122,000 CAD and I'm sure he's going to enjoy it.
Looking forward to see how he does in his 18 year old season in the Q and hopefully can garner some Team Canada world junior attention.
