Elliott was the least clutch Flame I've ever seen. I'd be reaaaally hesitant to try him again.

He has “weak team deflating goal syndrome” which he can’t balance out by being able to be the best player on the ice when he’s on.

At worst I feel he would be an upgrade on Smith in the 1A/1B rotation with Rittich. If Treliving can't get anything done via trade I feel he should be looking in this direction in free agency. I think a contract in the range that the Flyers gave Elliott is pretty fair as I don't see Talbot making $4.2 million from any team.

Bobrovsky will sign a contract for too much and too long, especially considering his age; I hope the Flames want no part of that.

Flames will have depth to trade from on the blueline. Whoever signs Bobrovsky will probably have a goalie under contract they will be looking to deal.

I think that from an optics standpoint there is no chance the Flames sign him.

If I recall correctly, there was an interview 1-2 weeks back when Conroy was on Fan 960 talking about Iginla.
Warrener asked him about the team having a second gear. Conroy mentioned that they still need to figure out what this team is made up of because the last time they were in the playoffs, it was a 4-0 sweep against the Ducks and they didn't learn much. Warrener mentioned how that was largely because of crappy goaltending to which Conroy agreed (which I thought was surprising).
I don't think Elliott is coming back to Calgary.

Never having heard of the guy and based solely on stats, Pavel Francouz as Kipper V.2 please at sub $1MM...

And it is not just in Calgary. Elliott was far and away the worst goalie in the playoffs last year. He was terrible.

He looked so good up to the conference finals too back in 2016. But truthfully, just a run of luck. Not great before that, not good after. I felt like a sucker too after being excited to see him signed here.

I'd almost be inclined to pick him up solely for the chance of that happening.
I'm admittedly biased toward things that make Edmonton look bad. But this is why I'm not GM.

I think the Flames are going to go with:
Rittich
Varlamov or Talbot
Varlamov and Talbot will both be cheap but have the ability to become starters and steal some games.

Hahaha! What?
Semyon Varlamov most certainly will not be cheap, and he has been a bona fide starting goalie for several years now.

If I had my say, I'd go with Varlamov and Nilsson. Both under 30 and can ride a few years out of them.
Unless of course you can snag Ullmark instead of Nilsson. Then I'd go Ullnark and Varlamov.

Colorado hasn't necessarily had stellar goaltending and how many other teams will be looking for goalies in the off-season? There are also other goalies who have been bonafide starters and haven't necessarily found great work in Free Agency.
I can definitely see him signing $3.0 mil per for 3 years (kind of like Halak last season)

Nilsson goes from looking spectacular to looking all of his Oiler/Canuck self.
Also, Varlamov isn't taking a nearly $3M price cut.

Varlamov will get re-signed in Colorado. Grubauer has not proven to be a trust worthy starter.

With Varlamov available there will be several teams looking for an upgrade even if they already have a guy pencilled in as the starter for next year.
