I was watching LGR's review on this game. The point that seemed weird to me is how entire buildings get abandoned if somebody dies inside it and a hearse can't get to your building and it cascades and everybody abandons the city.
^Bulldozing abandoned buildings is the most monotonous part of the game. The dead people thing is just an artificial way of punishing you for traffic problems.
I think it's okay to keep these in there. Abandoned buildings happen when property value gets too low as well or from lack of utilities. Have to have some kind of way to punish for that too.
I built a cargo train station in one of my industrial parks, and the lineup to get in was crossing with the line to get out. Without noticing, the train station had somehow filled with a thousand trucks trying to get out while trucks kept coming in. I had to rework the road to keep the incoming trucks from blocking the outgoing trucks, and sure enough, they all flooded out of the station and clogged the roads.
My citizen influx jumped +200 shortly after fixing that...
I haven't needed bulldozing enough for it to actually be a problem, plus I think auto-bulldozing seems like a potentially bad idea.
After all, if a building gets abandoned, there's often a reason for it, meaning you might need to fix or change something. Bulldozing is also an opportunity to rezone plots without needing to remove buildings that are in use. The spots for those abandoned buildings can also be used for plopping in some extra public services in areas that are already built.
For those of you on a mac (like me) or linux, ploppable custom assets are not appearing. CO is aware of the problem and fixed it with their latest patch but that also caused problems with saved games so they've pulled it. Once they figure that out, this issue should go away.
There are so many nice buildings to miss out on otherwise...
anyone know of a traffic flow overlay? when you put one way roads down, it's really hard to tell which way the traffic is flowing. i know there are arrows on the road, but they are a pain in the ass to see. i'd like to view the overall picture with some sort of arrows showing in which direction traffic is going. i can't even set up bus lines properly cause i can't tell what roads go which way!
It now exists. Search for 'One Way Street Arrows' mod.

So I'm on my third real city and every time I get to 30K my computer starts to slowdown. I'm at 70k right now and I effectively cant use the 3x speed option. I'm now contemplating a $400 mobo/cpu upgrade so I can continue to play the game
Can anyone help with some advice or screenshots for building interchanges from avenues to highways?
On ramps onto avenues generate intersections, which is not what I want. I want merge lanes.
Having two one lane two way roads merging to one 4 lane avenue also generates an intersection.
I'm having a hard time figuring out how to build any type of interchange not involving roundabouts that doesn't get hampered by these extra intersections.
Im kind of surprised to see no one has done a CP tower yet
fixed
