Just as I have tickets to Sunday nights game, hope they hold out a couple more days, would like to see him one more time.

Klimchuk has been traded to Brandon for Jesse Gabriel. Confirmed all over twitter. I'm interested to hear what happened with the other deal with Medicine Hat, heard it was finalized several days ago.

It'll be interesting to see if his production goes up playing with the high flying Wheat Kings.

It's good for Klimchuk but must suck for Pats fans. Their in 2nd place in their division, but they have already given up.

But Flames development coach Ron Sutter wants Klimchuk to take the same approach to his game regardless of what kind of team he’s on.

“He doesn’t have to be the saviour,” Sutter said. “He doesn’t have to be ‘the guy.’ He can go in there and just be one of the guys.

“But my message to him was: ‘New team, same player. Don’t change your game.’ ”

Klimchuk has 38 points in 34 WHL skates this winter, but Sutter says the Calgary product has taken a big step forward in a number of different areas.

“He’s got a bright future,” Sutter said. “He knows he’s going to have to spend some time in the American Hockey League – and there’s nothing wrong with that.

“The big thing with Morgan isn’t learning more about the game. It’s learning more about himself. He’s always been a diligent kid as far as his habits. Nutrition, fitness, rest … he understands that part, and in that way, he’s probably ahead of the curve compared to most kids.

“He knows he has to get stronger. Adding eight to 10 lb. of muscle to his frame is going to be huge for him going forward.”

If all these guys come through, Flames are going to be looking good in a few years. (Even if a few of them don't)

The Flames have a good group of forwards. Monahan and Gaudreau are in the NHL and impressing, Poirier and Sven looking good in the AHL. Baertschi is a question mark for lots but he's looking good recently. Bennett is the best prospect the Flames have had in a long time and Klimchuk isn't impressing with his point totals lately but if he can be a complimentary player with his skating and two-way play... we're in really good shape.

Klimchuk - Monahan - Poirier
Looks like it could be an amazing 2 way second line with some size, a bit of grit and scoring punch

That would be amazing, an entire line drafted in one first round. Due to Monahan being in the NHL, Poirier in the AHL and Klimchuk still in the WHL I tend to forget these guys were drafted together.

Crazy part of the forwards is that is only your top end youth from the last couple first rounds. Then you have young guys like Backlund, Bouma, Byron, Colborne, and Jooris who are already in the NHL and producing as well.

Then you have farm team and prospect depth that goes even deeper:

Granlund
Shore
Ferland
Arnold
Reinhart
Wolf
Hanowski
Jankowski
Smith
Agostino
Carroll

All 25 years or younger.

Klimchuk has picked it up. 5 points in his last 3 games, now 8 points in 7 for the Wheat Kings since being moved there.

I think klimchuk is going to end up being pretty good. He seems like a smart, all around reliable guy. The fact he hasn't blown anyone away with point totals or made the world junior team this year is pretty much irrelevant. I think he's just the type of guy you have to be patient with, the type you pick late in the 1st round!

Yup Ferland looked good too.. Hoping Wotherspoon plays great again and if Culkin could surprise, things could be looking realllly good.

How long did it take Backlund to emerge as a good NHLer? It'll take probably the same amount of time for Klimchuk to establish himself as well.

Probably less for Klimchuk than Backlund, just do to the center vs winger roles.. but Morgan will definitely need a couple of seasons in the AHL first.

Just taking a look at the Wheat Kings roster and there are a couple of interesting players.

http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/l...009932015.html

Defenceman Ryan Pilon is ranked 31 by NHL central scouting.

http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=119271

Tim McGauley is an undrafted centre showing steady progress, leading the team in scoring and may deserve a training camp invite.

^^
Pilon is someone I have liked for a while. I'm hoping he will be there in the 2nd round for the Flames. Mobile 2-way dman, sign me up! Has almost a point a game in his 2nd year in the dub.
