I'll recommend Dr. Sharma at Cambrian Animal Hospital. Very helpful through some serious issues with my dog and the staff is very friendly. Never felt ripped off or anything and he always broke down what was necessary vs what was optional and why wrt my dog.

It's horrifying. Since we moved to a different area of the city, shopping around for vets has not been fun at all. Most will gouge on exams, "consultation fees" or medication prices.

Your best bet is to call around for prices, especially if it is something specific - we are getting our dog neutered and we got quotes from the lowest $295.00 to upwards of $900.00 for the exact same procedure. It's amazing there can be so much price variance for such a standard procedure. But that is what happens when an industry relies on emotion, hidden fee structures and no real ability to comparison shop.

Vet care in this province is starting to look a lot like the US health care system.

At least insurance companies have recommended fee schedules which add a small amount of price controls to dental prices. Pet insurance has a lot way to go before it becomes viable.

+1 for Killarney Cat Hospital. Dr. P is good and they have a younger vet Dr. Dee who is also very good. There is another vet there who is slightly curmudgeonly but he does well. Very caring team.

I'm bumping this thread because I'm wondering if anyone has ever tried Vets to Go here in Calgary? They're mobile vets that can come to your house and do exams, tests, biopsies and euthanasia. My cats are absolute nightmares to take to the vet so I was thinking about trying this service. They're indoor cats and don't tend to have a lot of issues, but one has developed a bump on his back leg. Has anyone had any experience with this company or another mobile veterinarian service? What is the price like compared to a clinic?

To piggy back off this thread:

We are getting a new puppy here soon. Anyone know of any good Vets on the west side in the Aspen area?
