Absolutely hate Tre even looking at this...but we have split squad games that have veteran minimums. Calgary will sign some PTOs this year...like every year that we will hate. Also Petrovic at league min playing in the AHL or riding the pine is not the end of the world. I just think there are better options...

Do we even know if he’s actually looking at it though aside from an Oilers hockey writer stating that he is?? Even if he is I don’t hate Tre for kicking tires and looking under every stone to see if there are ways to improve the team. I’d happily take Petrovic on a 1 year two-way deal so we had some depth and muscle in Stockton to help protect the kids and be a veteran presence. He’s basically a replacement for Prout with the only difference being he’ll like sign for a two-way.

Yeah, if he's signed two way, what's the harm? Stockton needs bodies.

According to this:
https://bostonhockeynow.com/2019/08/...-pto-contract/

Bruins have offered Petrovic a PTO and Canes have offered him a 2 way deal.

Three pages of back and forth about a potential 2-Way farm team depth signing that was rumoured to be happening by an Oilers beat writer.

Would be okay as an AHL only signing but really, does the parent team really need a worse version of Mike Stone?

If we have a couple of injuries, yeah probably.

Gio-Brodie
Hanifin-Hamonic
Valimaki-Andersson

Yelesin and Lerby have both played pro hockey, and probably slot in around the Davidson/Valiev level as well.

I would actually be interest in whether Dan Girardi or Adam McQuaid have an interest in coaching once their playing careers have come to a close.

Having someone like that, effectively as a player/coach, at the AHL level, would be a real boon for development, and they would be alright in an emergency callup as well.

Offering a league min NHL/league max AHL salary, with a coaching mentorship added, might be enough to entice them, depending on where they see themselves.

Isn’t Lerby still under contract to play in Sweden this season?

Yes. He won't be coming to North America until 2020.

icon57 Rumour: Flames interested in Alex Petrovic

Look at Alex Petrovic's contracts these past few seasons, looks like he's been a 6/7D the past four years. He'll likely get the same amount this year, nearly 2 million...

Why would he likely get $2M if the reports are he's been offered a PTO and a 2 way contract?

You're correct. I missed that. I thought he was going to be depth in Stockton this year, but I guess not.
