Starting to see some youth in the defensive and midfield ranks which bodes well.

I would have like to see them call up a guy like Roberto Stillo instead of Stamatopoulos and another young forward instead of Ricketts or Hume as well although realistically there aren't many young forwards outside of Cavallini, Petrasso and Fisk are both prospects but a long ways from getting regular first team minutes in club sides even.

Haven't heard anything from the Spain camp, which is now into Day 4. However, looks like the men's national team will play a friendly against Australia on Oct 16 in London.

That makes a total of 8 friendlies and 3 crappy Gold Cup games in 2013. A very good way for Floro to assess the current crop of talent and see how they play together.

Oh really? I might have to attend.

So, Canada tied Mauritania 0-0 on Sunday, and lost to them 1-0 today. Sunday's roster was the younger group, with two more 18 year olds making their debut (Jackson Farmer and Jeremy Gagnon-Lapare). I'm not really sure what to say anymore about this team so here are some canned reactions...

Roster for the friendly against Australia on Oct 15 has been announced. 2 new additions are Dylan Carreiro and Michael Petrasso of QPR. Junior Hoilett hasn't been playing much at QPR even after being relegated to the Championship so he can jog on as far as I'm concerned. I would consider this our "A" team right now:

GK – Milan Borjan | TUR / Sivasspor
GK – Lars Hirschfeld | NOR / Vålerenga Fotball
D – Doneil Henry | CAN / Toronto FC
D – Dejan Jaković | USA / D.C. United
D – Adam Straith | GER / Wehen Wiesbaden
D – Marcel de Jong | GER / FC Augsburg
D – David Edgar | ENG / Burnley FC
D – Ashtone Morgan | CAN / Toronto FC
D/M – Nik Ledgerwood | SWE / Hammarby Fotboll
M – Kyle Bekker | CAN / Toronto FC
M – Dylan Carreiro | ENG / Queens Park Rangers
M – Julian de Guzman | GRE / Skoda Xanthi
M – Atiba Hutchinson | TUR / Besiktas
M – Jonathan Osorio | CAN / Toronto FC
M – Samuel Piette | GER / Fortuna Düsseldorf
M/F – Stefan Cebara | Unattached / sans club
M/F – Dwayne De Rosario | USA / D.C. United
M/F – Michael Petrasso | ENG / Queens Park Rangers
M/F – Russell Teibert | CAN / Vancouver Whitecaps FC
F – Marcus Haber | ENG / Notts County
F – Iain Hume | ENG / Preston North End
F – Simeon Jackson | GER / Eintracht Braunschweig
F – Tosaint Ricketts | TUR / Bucaspor

Nope, I'll keep posting these. Some people are interested in cheering for this team, no matter how depressing the lack of results are...

Sounds like the game against Australia will be streamed lived on Sportsnet.ca and tape delayed on one of the many sportsnet channels but no times as of yet.

I've got my tickets, going with another Canuck and two Aussies (including my wife) so should be fun. Kickoff is at 8pm local time so if streamed live in Alberta should be 1pm assuming daylight savings time is still in effect there (been away so long can't keep track).

I'm sure there will be a good smattering of Canadians in a sea of Aussies, I made sure I got tickets directly next to the Canadian supporters section (even though we are technically the home team). Looking forward to a short walk home afterwards!

Although I'm still waiting for Fulham to refund my money after their on-line ticketing system overcharged me, I finally got my confirmation email. As it isn't a club match, I've decided to join the prawn sandwich crowd in the director's box for the match.

Reading through our roster starts ok, the back 4, especially in a few more years, might actually be pretty solid. When you hit the midfield it gets depressing fast. I can barely make it to the strikers.

We need to get Camilo, Koffie, Felipe, and Camara fast tracked to playing for Canada.

I would love to see Camilo, Koffie, and Felipe play for Canada (I'm less sold on Camara), but that's not going to happen. Steven Sandor at the11.ca investigated this quite in depth, and fast tracking citizenship for potential national team players isn't going to happen.

I think a big piece of developing the back 4 is that Henry and Morgan now have 3 years professional experience at TFC playing together, in addition to their time at the TFC Academy. Yes, they still have work to do but in a few years that chemistry will be valuable.

Our best future striker (Lucas Cavallini) is trying to secure a job in Uruguay at Nacional and would look good up front.

TSN profiled Hanson Boakai of FC Edmonton and the Men's U-17 national team. Boakai made his NASL debut at age 16 in June, and will be playing in the U-17 World Cup in a few weeks. He could be a staple of the national team in a few years.

So the Canada-Australia match is being streamed live on sportsnet.ca, and will be repeated on Sportsnet 360 (formerly The Score) at 2200 tonight.

And spoiler tags for those waiting until tonight:

Spoiler!
