On the topic of roof vents/fans, in my two previous trailers (both Bolers) I had fantastic vents and was pleased with them. With that being said, does anyone have any experience with the MAXXAIR fans, or any other fans with the covers? If anyone has experience with both types, what's been your preference?

No experience with the fantastic fans but the Maxxfans are great. If you're replacing a fan/vent I can't think of a single reason why you wouldn't get a Maxxfan. We've got a pair of the basic 4 speed manual open ones. To be honest, we rarely use the fan because it's not needed in our little van. The lid that you can keep open during the rain however - priceless. Sure, fantastic fans self close with rain but that doesn't do you much good if it's still warm inside does it.

Actually, I can think of one negative. They're kind of heavy. Compared to the old fan-less vents the roof deflection is noticeable over bumps. But that's in a flimsy fibreglass topped van. In a normal RV/Trailer where you can walk on the roof that isn't going to be an issue.

My only worry with the vent cover style, is I've heard they move less air than the more open fantastic vent style. However, as you say, the being able to have them open in the rain is pretty awesome.

Well they claim up to 900cfm so I've never been too worried about air flow. Our unit is small so even if we only get 1/4 of that out of each fan, we're still getting one air change a minute.

Should my rooftop ac unit run just the fan without off the 12 volt system? I know the ac won’t work but the rooftop fan won’t even come on. I thought the rooftop fan worked in last trailer of battery but I’m not sure now

Furnace works fine

Any ideas on how much haggle room there is on new trailers? Contemplating going to have a look at an Airstream next week.

Anyone have any experience with plumbing and electrical? Currently my trailer doesn’t have any fuses in place and wiring looks bad. I don’t have a converter or anything fancy just some lights that go on the 12v and a 12v car outlet.

I am planning to try and get the water working and have a water pump so I want to make sure I wire it in correctly. Should I look at adding a fuse box for everything?

Also need to re do all the plumping. I have a bunch of Left over pex so I’ll probably use it. Anything abnormal about trailer plumbing I should be aware of? I only have a cold water tank so it would be a line to the toilet and a line to the kitchen sink from the water pump and I line from inlet on trailer into cold storage. I will also need to add a blow out line for winterizing.

The rooftop unit in most trailers I have seen only works on 120 volt power. Bathroom exhaust fans typically will work on 12 volt.

The fan only in mine draws something like 400 watts by itself.

Hey all. What is the length of water hose that you carry in your RV? Looking to buy one for my trailer. Thanks!

I have 2 20ft hoses, can't imagine you'd ever need much longer than that. The only time I've needed more is eg when filling my fresh water tank at home before going out. But that's rare. I'd think most sites 40 feet would be more than enough

I have 2 of these and they’re awesome. https://www.homedepot.ca/en/home/p.c...001086951.html

They roll up flat so take up way less space than regular hoses and are still ok for drinking water

Are they easy to get rolled up flat again?

Yes, they naturally want to be flat so when you disconnect it from pressure it squeezes that water out to go flat again then the rest of the water comes out as you roll it up and squeeze
