Default Anyone remember SCTV?

SCTV aired from 1976-84, but the original timeframe was slightly before my time, in order to appreciate it. In the early 90s, I was inudated with reruns, and I fell in love with the comedy show. Here is one of my favorite episodes:

One of the great comedies of the 80s. It's been 30 years since SCTV went off the air.

oops sorry this should be in the "off-topic" section. If a mod can move it to that section, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

SCTV strike. CBC strike replaces SCTV programming.

Heh, every 18 months or so we get a SCTV thread. Not complaining though, I loved that show. Like you, a bit before my time, but caught up on it in my pre adolescence and adolescent years.

It's jokes sometimes fell flat (though what sketch comedy doesn't?) but I think I loved it even more for the fact it wasn't perfect.

I still have the Tom Monroe video disc I ordered off the Gerry Todd show.

Grew up watching SCTV and loved every minute of it, especially with how Harold Ramis left the show and it became a long running story line.

While the later stuff was more laugh track oriented, the early years were absolutely brilliant.

I took my user name from the CBC episode, but it's the only full episode I've ever seen. I should watch more. Didnt they film it in Edmonton?

I believe What Fits Into Russia? was the funniest sketch ever made.

John Candy's Jonny LaRue, the exercise guy, was the greatest!

Then, back to Toronto.

Season 3 and most of season 4 were shot in Edmonton. They moved to Edmonton in 1980 and back to Toronto in early 1982.

I love SCTV. I bought all of the DVDs that are out, but there are still lots of episodes that aren't available, legally or otherwise. Some of my favourite episodes aired on Superchannel and none of those have been released. I'd kill to be able to see them again.
