He's the President of the United States, so he can legalize polygamy.

Also, he needs to procreate with as many women as possible really... if we want to look at it from a scientific viewpoint

Just watched episodes 1-4. Terrific!
Having watched it now, I think it is unfair to judge the show as strictly being a comedy.
It is not often laugh-out-loud funny, though there have been some brilliant lines (in particular from Schaal). There is no laugh track. There are many subtle references in the background. I love Tucson as a setting.
The show is a satire - it comments on loneliness and a culture obsessed with the end times.
It has a sci-fi element - who hasn't wondered what life would be like as the last person? It is a thought experiment, or a dream.

how is Carol so good at crafting, yet so terrible in the kitchen?
The raisin balls "turned".
Melissa: “I grew up in Akron—”
Phil: [knowing nod] “Mmm. Ohio.”
Carol: “That’s what they taught us: sketch fast or the killer will kill again.”

Power Rankings - Best Shows on TV:
http://www.pastemagazine.com/article...-march-16.html
1. The Last Man on Earth, Fox
Last Week: N/A
This show is a network revolution, and I think the bulk of the credit goes to the directors, Phil Lord and Chris Miller. The only way you can manage this kind of creativity on a network sitcom is to have a crystal clear idea of the world you’re inventing, including the rules of interaction, and they came in gangbusters. It’s such a perfect blend of sight gags, melancholy, cynicism, and joy that it would feel unbelievable anywhere. On Fox? It’s practically a miracle. Don’t get me wrong: Will Forte has silenced anyone who didn’t believe in his ability to be a comedic leading man, and Kristen Schaal’s Carol has been fantastic in the craziest way possible. But there’s something about the world they inhabit, and the way they behave when they’re not speaking, that just feels perfect.
Let me put it this way: In the first half hour, on a NETWORK SITCOM, there was a scene where Forte 1. drank a healthy swig of liquor 2. while driving 3. as he prepared to commit suicide by driving into a huge rock on which he had drawn a bullseye. How the hell do they get away with that?!

I don't know if I can keep watching without the beard. With the beard his personality was the perfect mix of crazy and tragic, now he's just lame.

Every interaction he had with January Jones was pure cringe

Yeah, I really like the show but the scenes with Jones were just hard to watch. Really, really awkward. Hope that doesn't continue.

If the awkwardness continues I'll probably have to give up. Same reason I could never get into the Office

I don't think there's any way the awkwardness doesn't continue.

I watched episode 4 last night and thought it was great. I didn't really find the scenes with Jones awkward at all. Though, I do agree that Forte's character without the beard doesn't seem the same. The previews for the next episode look great!

Awkwardness is like ideal TV for me.
Seinfeld, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Always Sunny, Office, etc.
Sure it makes you squirm, but it's good that entertainment makes you feel something other than passive.

Do yourself a favour and don't look up the show at all online unless you have to. I had to because I missed episode 3 and was looking to catch up online, but Google HAD to provide the cast listing on the side. So before I even watched episode 3, I knew January Jones was going to show up
P.S. If you need to catch up online, just go directly to Hulu (using Hola of course).

I can't believe they've been milking the same joke for 3 episodes straight, if the next episode is Jones heavy again then I'm out, she has a real Knack for being the worst part of the projects she's in.

What shows are people watching that are so 100% funnier than the one being discussed in a particular thread?
I need to know!
