I have to say that the crowd in Toronto was brutal as compared to the energy that Denis was able to draw from the supporters in Montreal a year ago. Some of that may be the natural flair that is a part of Denis' game, but I thought they could have pumped up Felix a lot more than they did tonight.

Completely agree. I even said to my husband they need to start a “Go Felix Go” chant or something. Medvedev was on the rails and the crowd could have really pushed him over the edge.

That was tough to watch at the end. While there are endless positives to take away from his 2018 Rogers Cup, his inexperience was the main reason he did not advance further. Medvedev was nearly asking to be sent home late in that match.
One thing is for sure, Felix is a top 50 talent after watching him play here on a big stage again - how much higher he can fly will be up to him and his teams work ethic and not his skill or tennis IQ.

you can tell that Felix is used to being able to simply hit through his opponents at the junior and challenger level, kind of like how a highly skilled NHL rookie needs to fight the urge to dangle through everyone when they make the big show.
with some tweaks to add more margin (topspin?) while keeping his shot depth, he should be able to last a bit longer on rallies and push guys off court with angles rather than just 1 or 2 flat hits. I really like his backhand despite how much he was netting it, and it should be as much a weapon for Felix as it is now for Shapo.

My thoughts exactly.
He's still a very raw pro that needs to learn to lay off his lethal shots at certain times. His slice needs a lot of work and once he can hit that consistently it should open up the angles for him to drive the ball more effectively instead of getting locked in lengthy rallies that can go either way against good ball strikers or defenders.
Unlike other NextGen players, Felix already has the the majority of the shots in his repertoire, he just needs match time to get his tactics ironed out.

Tiafoe is a fun player to watch! I love his box, too. The support from his family is so sweet.

Frances Tiafoe and Grigor Dimitrov are going to a third and deciding set - Dimitrov won the first set in a tie-breaker and Tiafoe took the second set 6-3. I'm rooting for Frances.
Edit: Nice start for Tiafoe as he breaks to start the 3rd set.

Dimitrov just got a point taken away for taking too long to serve (got a warning earlier).

Tsitsipas and Joker are on court now - This should be a dandy match as well.

I thought it could have gone either way.
I'll be keeping my eye on Frances at the US Open. With a home crowd and a decent draw, he could go a run. I haven't found an American men's player this entertaining in years.

Tsitsipas up a break leading 5-2 in the opening set. The kid started the year ranked #91 in the world and is currently ranked #27.

Young stars on the rise: McDavid can relate to Shapovalov

The pair have struck up a friendship and McDavid also watched Shapovalov at the French Open. ''You can relate a little bit between the two of us, being young and coming up and having to face the spotlight and pressures that come with that,'' he said.
