Crave adds standalone HBO + Movies package
Bell's "Crave", formerly CraveTV, now comes in two flavours: - $9.99/month for Crave. Includes Crave Originals, current SHOWTIME shows, select older HBO content and older seasons of current HBO shows, some other TV series.
- $19.98/month for Crave + Movies + HBO. Includes the above, plus current (and live) HBO content and some recent Hollywood movies.
The press release has more info: https://www.bellmedia.ca/pr/press/be...all-new-crave/
This is a huge step for cordcutting. Now Canadians can finally pay a reasonable monthly fee for HBO, without the need for a cable subscription and hardware.
I have never tried Crave, and heard the software kind of sucks, but definitely look forward to being able to watch Game of Thrones and other HBO shows completely legitimately.

It's awful, and the latest update made it worse. Some good shows though. Nice to see they're bringing new HBO stuff.

Crave has some decent content. My big problem is that they don't make it easy to actually watch it (no Roku app, iPad app won't stream to Chromecast). I have a TV with a Crave app, but it's fairly buggy and often hangs up when I try to start watching.

I believe that Crave is supposed to work through Shaw's Bluesky box. Has any tried to stream that way and does it work seamlessly?

My iphone will stream crave to a Chromecast. It’s the bastards at amazon Prime that don’t.

I've never had a problem with it, it works really well. I also like that I have voice command which works with Crave as well.

You're right, I got them mixed up. Crave can be cast but has no Roku app, Amazon can't be cast but has a Roku app.

I've used the TMN GO / HBO app and streamed from my iphone to apple tv and chromecast with no huge issues. Merging it with Crave means they have a huge archive of amazing shows available to cord cutters. I'm a fan.

Does Crave have subtitles yet? That was the sticking point for me not continuing after the free trial a year or so ago. My wife is ESL and understands a lot more when subs are enabled, and they're very useful for watching with low volume late at night

This is very interesting to me. I've always found Crave to have the better TV series, but they have lacked in movies when compared to Netflix.

This is great.
Game of Thrones was literally the only reason I had cable.

So will all the HBO stuff they previously be available on the regular package or just the new one? It was always the best part of crave, just in the laast year I've re-watched The Soprano's, Band of Brothers, The Pacific and Generation Kill

Give Deadwood a watch next.
From what I understand this is strictly adding more content for an extra $9.99/month (total $19.98/month). All the old HBO content that was available in the $9.99/month package remains in that package.

They removed all the TMN Encore on demand content from the app. That’s kinda lame.
