Default Parking near the Saddledome

Hi all,

It's been a long time since I've been to a game (last 2 years for obvious reasons), but I finally get to take my oldest to his first Flames game tonight! Does anyone have any recommendatons on free or cheaper parking within walking distance of the Saddledome? I know years ago I used to park along 11 Ave SE, but I don't know if that's still possible or if there are better places to check. We plan on getting there about an hour before puck drop.

Thanks in advance!

Scott

When I lived there we either used a bus into the nearest ctrain station and if we were driving would park at one of the ctrain stations about 4 stops from the dome and ride the ctrain in the rest of the way in.

I’m sure others will have better parking options though! Enjoy the game my friend GoFlamesGo!!!

North has some parking options (10th and 11th) but they get eaten up pretty quick on gameday. If you don't mind a walk you can park along Spiller Road by the cemetery and then walk down the river path or through the stampede grounds. Vic park has a few spots as well with street parking but they go quick as well.

Since the underpass on 4th St SE was built, it’s really easy to park downtown (after 6 for free) and walk the rest of the way. The parkades around there are pretty cheap in the evening too.

It's been a few years since I was a STH, but I always used to park in the East Village, usually on 8th Ave north of Studio Bell. There's a few new buildings in the area since then, so I don't know if it's impacted parking availability.

This is still available. Parked there for the preseason game against the Jets.

I used to always park across from the Victoria park C train station but that walkway is closed now and you have a much longer outdoor walk. I need some new places to park this season

Yeah depending where you’re coming from this is the best way. I used to bike to the station as it was so close.

Yeah, I bet a lot of people are going to be in for a shock tonight when they realize the whole indoor walkway from the C-Train is gone.

With all the fencing around the construction, the way to go is towards Cowboys.

Lots of free street parking in East Village after 6:00 (north of the train tracks). About a 15 min walk to the Dome.

Interestingly, I noticed there was a new City parking lot just north of 11 Ave (I believe formerly owned by Remington). Looked new; couldn’t find any information online about rates though.

Thanks for the responses everyone - ended up keeping it simple and parked at the lot just north of 11th. Looks to be run by Calgary Stampede and cost $15, so a little steep, but my boy was too excited to let me circle the block a few times! Despite the loss, my son repeatedly said it was the best night of his life, and I got to see the game through the optimistic eyes of a child which was a welcome change to the ambivalence I’ve felt towards the Flames the last few years!

Go to Elbow River Casino for dinner before the game. Park for free.
