Plenty of organizations have gone full seasons and more without captains, especially after a long serving one leaves.
Not that uncommon.

My guess is as good as yours, but I'd be completely shocked if the bolded were true. I'd be shocked if even one guy us waiting for Looch to go. My guess is the team loves the guy, has a ton of respect for him and feels he brings a lot to the group.

I am glad to see they are going with the 4 alternates route. This is MUCH better than hastily choosing someone just for the sake of having a captain.
Naming/being captain is, and should be, a big deal. Wait until we have the right candidate. Don't just give it to the best current option.

IMO, you either have a captain or you don’t.
If that room has a clear cut captain, it will be obvious who it is.
If it does not, rotating A’s is the way to go.
No sense forcing the issue.

Insanely dominant team wins over the last 10 games (plus the stretch to start the season) and yet we don't have a captain. There is so much character on this team, and you can tell they have a serious tone to win.

Tkachuk
Backlund
Tanev
Lindholm
Andersson
Not a list in any particular order, but there's an argument for any of these guys.
Also can't say anything bad about Johny and Mony, they look like they want to win.
I wonder if this is keeping Sutter up right now.

I understand why he’d be a good fit, but I wouldn’t think twice of getting rid of his contract if possible after this season. So I don’t think you’d give it to someone in that position.
