True enough. Sort of frustrating when considering cap dumps and the first ones that come to mind are Zadorov and Gudbranson (and this is with him playing well the other night).

Teams opinions on Gudbranson won’t chase based on one game,

Ottawa is interesting because they can absorb all of Monahan’s salary and then some. So, if Calgary can trade Monahan entirely for futures and blend some of those into an offer for Eichel it would be pretty ideal. Possibly Calgary takes back contracts that could be entirely buried if and when Eichel can play.

Calgary would have to live with a centre depth of Lindholm, Backlund, Dube (who I think plays better at C) and Lewis. But with Coleman in I think they could still be in a PO position if Eichel returns by the TDL. And if not, they tank and look for good prospects.

I hope the Flames can trade Monahan to Ottawa. I think it would be really good for him and likely result in a rebirth for him. The Flames system of playing along the boards doesn't leverage Monahan's ability to score from the high danger areas. Think hard people. Monahan's game, along with the team's success, went in the ####ter the minute they moved away from playing the puck to the middle of the ice to playing more along the perimeter. He will be a player that goes to almost any other team in the league and see immediate improvement because not many teams still focus their play to owning the boards. I hope he get's moved because it will be the best thing for him and the Calgary Flames.

And we can get a new thread for him that gets bumped when he scores.
