Crappy first few minutes, but can't complain about everything after that. As solid of a road game as you can ask for. Was able to keep Caps hot PP scoreless, and pot a few ourselves.
Also, while I think the Caps looked a bit lazy at times (their PP in the second was pretty lackluster), we were tenacious and gave them nothing. The rare time they made something happen, Smith came up huge.
BROUWER YOU HEEL. Please kill this with fire, Caps.
Quote:
Jagr and Brouwer. A parade of the hated ex-Caps in DC tonight. I don't really hate Jagr, some of us do but I wasn't a Caps fan when he was on the team. Brouwer though, his stone hands and his "leadership" can go kick rocks.
Quote:
Hahaha. Totally.
The original Shankapotamous.
Quote:
Confident he doesn't score tonight. I would bet virtually anything
Also I trashed Brouwer in last season's GDT before the game and he ended up scoring. Sorry for the incoming Brouwer 3 point night.
Quote:
He hit the post against us last time we played the Flames.
Quote:
Hit the nail on the head there. Flames fans already have him pinned him up as the local whipping boy for next THREE years

Didnt even have time to login to celebrate the first goal. Hell yes mr danish. Vrana does not want to get scratched again.

Damn! Holts didn't even flinch. Weird!

There goes the brilliant start
Quote:
Anyone else get slightly perturbed when "Johnny Hockey" name gets thrown out there? Its like fingernails on a chalkboard..
Quote:
People really think Gaudreau is a more exciting player than Kane? I don't see it, Kane can has amazing hands like Gaudreau and his shot is much better.
Quote:
Kane might be flashier but he isn't as good all round.
Quote:
Carlson is ####ing useless. Just stare at the puck in the crease
Quote:
And Orpik and Carlson were both on the same side of the ice and no one was anywhere near the shooter but Holtby has to have that.
Quote:
What were 44 and 74 doing?
Quote:
Blown coverage by 44 on the goal by Gaudreau
Quote:
Hey brooks, wanna line, try to catch Johnny at all? No? Okay cool.
Quote:
Why was orpik over on othr side of ice? Gaudreau had clear lane
Quote:
Well we seem to be getting the better start. Gotta kill this. And Orpik is a worker, but he cannot hang with a team that has a modicum of speed anymore.

So much offensive blah

JUST SHOOT!!! What is wrong with yall??
Quote:
KUZY SHOOT THE GODDAMN PUCK QUIT PASSING ACROSS THE ####ING PAINT
Quote:
Clang...
Quote:
That's an issue I've had with Kuzy for a couple seasons. He used to make some magical goals, but even when he has an open net now he just passes.
Quote:
This reminds me of the time when that thing happened,
Quote:
IDK what it is with this team wanting to make the highlight reel every time they get the puck.
Monahan vs PK

4 Caps just standing around looking around not tying up guys or knocking them on to the ice allowing guys to keep taking shots till they eventually score.

Goddam it! Holtby had it but didnt realize.

Please just get it back guys.

Way to piss it away. This is frustrating

Caps looked like a herd of deer in the headlights. No fight for that puck!
Quote:
A midget wacks away at your goalie and you don't plant him in the 3rd row ..... WTF kind of ******* do we have playing for this team???
Old Man Clinic
Quote:
A 40-Something year old Jagr just out skated/worked Carlson .... WTF is going on with this guy? Except for the PP he'd barely be a good 5-6 defender.
Quote:
Jagr and his line are putting on a cycling clinic and our young defense can't keep up... so funny.
I am at a really weird place. I want the Caps to be good and succeed but I also kind of hope that they continue to get trounced so changes will be made because right now every win seems to just push on the inevitable a little longer.
Quote:
Jagr has that fat arse. No one can move the guy
Quote:
Lets see ... we've stopped skating .. we're reaching and holding ... the Flames are dictating play ................ Yup, sounds like Caps Consistency.

Did Ovi forget how to score?
Quote:
If he's not scoring goals he isn't doing **** out there, and he hasn't scored in like 9 games now.

Ovi might as well be in a rocking chair since he doesn't skate at all.

So what are we good at this year? We aren't good on the PP, we aren't good on the PK, we take more penalties then we get, were not physical, were not solid defensively, we go stagnant 5v5, we don't make adjustments, and we aren't motivated. Is there anything we can hang our hat on?

Ok Im on board. Its about time to chuck up ye olde dueces to Barry. Perhaps a quarter season coaching change would provide a spark, because this is garbage on ice.

Flames are 5-2 in November. They are miles ahead of us. This year is just freaking terrible
Quote:
To be fair, their team is at least consistent. Just being slight better than average gives you a fighting chance in the Pacific.
And they can score more than 2 goals. We have McDavid netting 3 points and we STILL lose

Just tuned in to see Calgary go up 2-1 against Washington.
Commencing my continuation of binge watching Brooklyn 99.

Calgary will be up on us by 10 points soon. Just the sad way it is.

and he scores. Great sequence for Backlund. Has such a punchable face

I think Calgary would spank us right now.
Quote:
Yep, never been so disappointed with a team in my life. And been cheering for this team for 30 years. It doesn't help watching the OOT scoreboard either. Other teams seem to overachieve with their assets (Flames).
Quote:
Just had a look at the box score between Calgary and Washington. Another 5 mother****ing powerplays for Calgary so far when the Oilers didn't get one in 2 games against the Caps. 4-1 Flames. Barf.

Smith was just amazing again. Made some huge timely stops. Thought the flames got better defensively, lots of great stick positioning and stick checks all over the ice.
Also happy to see the flames switch it up with the special teams personnel and see some instant rewards.
Woot woot

Hell of a road game by the boys.
Outside of Brodie completely forgetting to defend his man on Washingtons goal, I thought the team defense played probably their best game this year, including the forwards. Did a great job shutting them down.
Smith was great, the 3Rd line looked good, and although Johnny looked quieter than last few games, he still was very dangerous out there. That little fake out/wrap around would have been soooo sweet.
What a tear Jonny and Monny are on!
