Hopefully Treliving is just there to bump the price up for Chiarelli. Personally, I'd love to see the Oilers trade for Kane. Give up some of their limited prospect/pick capital in exchange for a 9th place finish in the west.

Like! The only move to make now would be a new backup goalie. We just went from 6 weeks ago to saying there is no room for Janko because of too many bodies, and now he wants to bring in someone for the 4th line? this makes no sense. Has to be for a goalie.

Shoot for the Moon trade :
Backlund, Lazar, Versteeg and Wotherspoon,
for
Reinhart, Buffalo 1st, Girgensons.
Would you do it?
|
Since those other 3 guys have little value, I doubt a Backlund rental gets you Reinhardt, Buffalo’s first and Girgensons. Especially since that first is a lottery pick.

Perhaps a Girgensons for Versteeg/Wotherspoon type of deal.
In Conspiracy world, if Calgary doesn't feel as though they can sign Backlund, that would be a player that Buffalo would covet greatly. O'reilly, Eichel, Backlund would be a devastating centre depth. They have Josh Gorges coming off the books next year to offset what they would need to pay Backs.

I doubt that Girgensons is being showcased with the hope that he can bring in the likes of Versteeg/Wotherspoon.

I wonder if the Sabres are getting sour on Eichel.
Hypothetically, what would you be willing to give up for him?
Brodie +?
Backlund ++?
It would be hard to fit in his cap hit though.

Backlund + Bennett + Fox + Mangiapane?
If the Flames added Eichel they couldn’t afford Backs.
I am sure the Sabres would want Tkachuk *

Yeah, I was thinking something around Backlund would make more sense for the Flames. However, Sabres need D. Maybe something a bit bigger?
Backlund + Brodie + Bennett + Fox
for
Eichel + Reinhart
Gaudreau - Monahan - Ferland
Tkachuk - Eichel - Reinhart
Frolik - Janko - Jagr (Mangiapiane - Janko - Frolik next year)
Gio - Hamilton
Kulak - Hamonic
Stone - Andersson. (I know, 2 RHD)
Highly doubtful it happens, but it's fun to play armchair GM.
I do wonder if there is a strained relationship between the Sabres and Eichel.

If we were to trade one of our 2nd pairing, I think it would be Hamonic. Brodie has proven chemistry with Stone.

Obligatory:
This is Ludacris
The word is ludicrous.
I haven't seen it spelled correctly in so long that I'm just assuming ludacris has now replaced ludicrous in the dictionary.

Brodie has more value, he is a legit top pairing defenceman on a cheap contract for 3(?) more years. If we were looking to trade for a talent such as Eichel, that would be the price.

I think you guys are dreaming. Buffalo would ask for Monahan+ or something along the lines of Hamilton + Tkatchuk. He's their McDavid-esque ray of hope so good luck prying him outta Buffalo's hands.

Each post about Eichel is getting more absurd.
No the "price" for Eichel is not Brodie, try again.

I don't think anyone had them traded straight up. It was always Brodie+. But I don't think Buffalo trades Eichel ever, not until he's a UFA at least.

That is just draft hype to make it seem like the first overall had some drama to it, at least in my opinion. You will not get a 1c and a 2d both of which are young for a slumping possible 1c that is crazy over value.

Good point but of anyone could make that trade it would be BT. Maybe BT has just spoiled my view on things with so many good trades.

Jack Eichel is such a great talent. If he's available, I'd willing to give up anything outside of Gaudreau, Monahan and Tkachuk to land him. If you look at teams who have won Stanley Cups, the majority have two #1 centers.

Burke has a pretty strong policy on 'do not draft' lists. I'd imagine the same policy applies to bringing in players who are problematic in the dressing room. For that reason I can't see it being Kane.

So Backlund and Monahan should do it then.

I don’t know if that is enough to add Reinhart to the deal.
Fun to talk about Eichel but I can’t see the Sabres moving on from a guy before the $80M extension for him kicks in. The only reason it carries a little weight is the fact it seems Eichel was key in getting Bylsma fired and he is not having a great season and seems disgruntled.
If they are looking at D I would assume Hamilton would be the target.
For fun:
To Flames: Eichel, Kane
To Sabres: Backlund, Bennett, Hamilton brothers, + any prospect in the system?
