This was an awesome bump! It's nice to revisit a thread that sheds light on some of the concerns that fans may have had not too long ago. If I created a thread like this, I would love to be wrong because that means the Flames are a better team I don't think anyone should ever feel stupid for asking a legitimate question that is later reanalyzed.

I like old bumps because they give hindsight, and when I feel particularly opinionated I like to remember that most people are wrong about most things most of the time.

Gaudreau is currently over an assist-per-game (21 assists in 20 games). The 41 goal pace is just gravy. And the 6 game goal scoring streak makes it fresh gravy.

This thread was created a month ago. Bad take is bad.

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.

There is a greater distance between him and the fourth leading NHL scorer than between him and the leader.
Go Johnny Go!

Voicing concern, or knee-jerk over reaction?

No you can't. That's called cyber bullying when you "attack" the opposite opinion and say "I told ya so".

Pointing out that someone was wrong if they were wrong isn't cyber-bullying.

In this case hindsight wasn't even needed...it was a bad take at the time

This thread was a bad take from the beginning because even if you looked at the numbers it wasn't such a big difference that you'd think he was declining as a goal scorer.
He also dealt with an injury and no training camp so those were also huge factors. Don't think the thread was warranted at the time and it looks silly right now.
And the OP is the same guy who trashed my Bennett is a winger thread with advanced stats and a year later......hes a winger. So I have no problem calling him out on a bad thread either.

Someone needs to bump the playoff posts where they wanted to fire Gaudreau into the sun along with Wideman. That was a nauseating time!

Well JG showed me. I thought perhaps this year he'd be the super extreme play maker he is but he fixed that, now he's the super extreme play maker plus goal scorer we need but dont' deserve.

"Gaudreau's decline as a goal scorer"... brought to you by the producers of "Monahan's not a true 1C"

In all seriousness, I think for a while there teams were over-committing to trying to smother Johnny which didn't see him get a lot of looks from high danger areas - but in turn - opened up other players for him to thread the needle to which saw his assists take off.
As he's been heating up this month, teams don't know what to do and now that they can't slash his hands and fingers off, he's back to scoring at a high pace as well as continuing to be one of the premier playmakers in the sport.
I think Jagr was right that he has the talent to challenge for the scoring title every year.

the flames have not had anyone score 100 points.. since... drum roll... theo fleury.. in 1992-1993.. wow..
iggy came close 3 times.. including the 2006-2007 season.. where he had 94 in 70 games (dammit!) but no one since theo..!
If 13 hits it this year.. truly special mark...

No fan base *truly* deserves anything, but odd comment nonetheless.

I'll take "Brodie's decline as a defender".
