Did he play like a cannonball every single game like those playoffs you mention? Of course not - he himself got injured late in the Vancouver series playing that way, and limped into the Anaheim series and then got scratched due to injury.
Ferland commands a great amount of respect on the ice. Kesler trying to act like a tough guy last playoffs until Ferland got in-between him and Monahan.
I still do that trade, but without question the Flames miss Ferland's presence on the ice.

I love Ferly, but it's hard to say the Flames miss his toughness. He rarely fought. Maybe guys in his weight class were scared of him.
Having said that, one thing that always bugged me a bit about Ferly was that he never fought up his weight class, in particular, he never seemed engaged against the Oilers. While I was always worried that he'd get destroyed in a fight with Lucic, Kassian, Nurse or Maroon, I always wanted to see him pushback and stand up for the team. To see Bennett do that on Saturday was something else. I don't recall Ferland ever getting into a fight in the BOA (ignoring rookie games) which is weird for one of your tougher guys. Also, in junior, he fought a lot of bigger guys and knocked out a few too, so I was really hoping he'd do that to Kassian.
He beat up lots of Canucks though But again, middleweights.

4 multi point games in a row and 9 points in his last 5.
11/10 impressive.

I know it wasn't technically a hatty, but here's the triple Lindy anyway:

quickly becoming my favourite player. I knew he'd be an upgrade over Ferland, but I didn't expect to get such a complete player who'd gel so well with Monahan and Gaudreau. Fantastic hockey IQ and solid 200 ft game in all situations, and remember when Canes fans said he has a muffin of a shot? Yeah, not really. He's exactly what this team needed offensively and much more.
Under 5m per year until 2024. Lol.

Safe to say no one saw this offensive explosion coming. Although I don’t agree with Brian Burke that he has been the yeam’s MVP, I would say he has contributed more to the improvement over last year than any single player. With apologies to Brodie and Hamonic who look like different players.

Does anyone have a better contract than Lindholm?
The Tavares and Josi contracts were famously good. But obviously the Tavares one ended, and Josi's ends soon. Maybe Gostibehere (4.5 until 2023) or Marchessault (5 mill until 2024)?

WOW. Thankful for 28! What a pick-up. Who knew he is the answer (so far) for our RW woes?

Mackinnon, Pasternak, Scheifele, Marchand, Barkov, Vasilevsky, Horvat all have dandy contracts for their position on their teams.

I am biased but I would toss Gaudreau in there as well.
Our whole top line signed for 17.975 million. Awesome

Horvat? More money for less points? Sure, he does a lot for the Nucks but I am not throwing him out there as a better contract than Lindholm.

I didn't mean that he had a better contract, just a good one. Sorry.

There's a little play he does at 9:34 of 2nd (PHI) off a faceoff that's so sneaky good. He's thrown out of faceoff and goes to left wing. Monahan ties up Courturier and it's a scramble. Lindholm jumps across to the right wing, gets the puck and a short area backhand saucer pass lands in a perfect spot for Monahan to shoot or make a play - he misses puck.
He makes great plays.
