Doyle spent three seasons in Hockey East, one with Boston University and two with Northeastern. Was a bit player in all three of those seasons. He dropped down to the AHA for his senior year.
The good news for Hoskins is that he's now transferred to Merrimack in the much more competitive Hockey East. Merrimack is by no means a powerhouse but it'll be a huge step up in competition for him.

It's still a long road for Hoskin but he did about as well as you could hope for a kid coming out of high school hockey transferring to the NCAA. AHA Rookie of the Year and the transfer to Merrimack will be another step up in difficulty.
If he drops another 35+ points next season I think we'll have good reason to feel excited about his prospects as an actual NHL player.

Also, only using a 4th on him is a pretty big longshot anyways. If he plays ANY NHL games thats a win.

Flames have a good track record of hitting on their 4th round picks. I believe.
I've watched what I could on Hoskins and to me he has Janko skill but adds that internal drive to play hard. He should crack an NHL roster in his future.

Players like Basha, and Misa is the reason why the Flames should try to keep roster spots open and not go free agent hunting. Once contracts for Coleman and Backlund expire we will have spots for them to take.
the 2024 class is looking like a good one for us.

Basha and the Tigers advance to the Memorial Cup. Two Flames prospects in the Mem Cup!

Good article in the Herald about his work ethic and determination to come back from his injury so quickly.

There is optimism the Flames amateur scouts — helmed by Tod Button — absolutely aced their assignment at the 2024 NHL Draft. Led by first-round picks Zayne Parekh and Matvei Gridin, the first seven skaters they selected all averaged upwards of a point per game this season in either the major-junior or collegiate ranks.
|
Let's cross our fingers and hope that the Flames have one of those Dallas Stars type of drafts on their hands here. I feel like Flames fans deserve to have one of those drafts.

That is why targeting 3rd and 4th liners on other teams makes zero sense for any of our players.
We have plenty of high skilled prospects and I believe a bunch of them will play. Basha looks like is rounding out nicely and could crack the team next season.
Stock up on picks and prospects, and you can turn that into a major player.

Hold your horses there partner. Basha aint gonna make the Flames next year. Lets give him at least a year in the AHL if he makes it, he lost pretty much the full year with an injury.

Like, the overall avg of all 7 combined comes out to over a ppg... or they each individually were over a ppg?

Honzek was injured his draft year and after his draft year and he made the team out of camp.
You never know the younger players now.

Sure we do, unless generational or very high skilled it is unlikely, Honzek even flamed out. He needed at least a year in the A

The average PPG of the Flames picks is PPG. Some were over, some were under, but collectively the group is over PPG.

True.
I am just super excited about our prospects. I think the 2024 draft could be looked back on when we parade the cup as the catalyst to a championship.

The 2024 class is so much fun.
Most drafts you hope you're 1st rounder takes a step forward in D+1 and that one other guy picked is intriguing.
The 2024 draft has about 8 guys to salivate about.

We are all happy or excited, it "SEEMS" like it was a great draft! Until we see how it actually plays out 2 or 3 years down the road we dont really know what we have on our hands. Ive been through too many of these over the years to get pumped before it actually happens. Enjoy the ride, watch it play out and hopefully you are right. Dont want to see you all depressed and not posting anymore because they turned out to be bums or 4th line scrubs on another team.

Yeah that's what I was wondering, cause it kinda reads both ways... but they actually are each over a ppg...
From the latest drafted to earliest:
Luke Misa: 85 in 67
Trevor Hoskin: 39 in 36
Henry Mews: 82 in 68
Jacob Battaglia: 90 in 68
Andrew Basha: 29 in 23
Matvei Gridin: 79 in 56
Zayne Parekh: 107 in 61

Nice. I didn't actually check because they used the word average for the group.

My fandom and obsession with the team really kicked in during the young guns era lol. I don't think I will ever ditch the team.
Although I don't get as upset after losses or playoffs like I did when I was younger.
