Scoring Winger

It's hard to get going when you make one little error and you get benched for a bunch of games. While guys like Backlund and Monahan get passes all the time, when they are lazy AF and don't backcheck hard.

It is a bit mind bottling that guys who scored 22 points in 64 games last year had zero this year. Between Nordstrom, Leivo, and Simon...2 bloody assists in 48 games. There is no word to describe how bad that is. It wasn't realistic to expect these guys to score 25 points this year..but to get nothing is crazy.

You are looking at things in a vacuum.
Lindholm has been pretty solid, I don’t know how you can say he isn’t our best overall player? He’s been tasked with top line center duties and has been saddled with a useless Tkachuk for most of the season.
Gaudreau has been having a solid season but he’s constantly playing with a new, typically ineffective, RWer each game and it probably doesn’t help Johnny or Monny really.
Andersson yes I’m not going to say has been outstanding but he is young and playing top pairing minutes with a depreciating Gio.
Mangiapane was invisible for stretches earlier in the year but has been lights out lately.
You need to consider the entire body of work and some of the contributing factors to each players individual “struggles.”
I would say the only players who haven’t had many, if any, bad stretches are Tanev and Markstrom.
Having said that I still have been happy with the players I originally listed.

Have Mangiapane and Dube been good in the same game or do they just agree to trade good stretches?

Noah Hanifin having 0 goals and 3 points is Mind Boggling.
2 combined points in 48 games by forwards is Mind Bottling.

Yeah, we could have used some more Byron and Hathaway these last few years.

Probably not Byron, but yes Hathaway. 9G in 66 games last year. 6pts this year so far. Mucks it up and always gives his best effort. All for $1.5M. Perfect 4th liner.

$1.5 is 2X what anyone on the 4th line makes when Ryan is out, and the Flames are at the cap.

That Hathaway would not be offered anything more than 1 M for 1 year in 2021.
Partial list of solid NHL players that signed in 2021 for 1M or less that took a significant cut in salary since Hathaway signed.
A function of a fixed cap and the mass signing of RFA players coming off their ELC for 6-7M the summer of 2019
