This trade just worked out perfectly as both teams had similar valued and aged players request trades. Calgary couldn’t have reasonably matched it, and rightfully so.

I still daydream about having Stone.

And to call me a hippie is really funny. You have no idea who I am, but it seems like you hate where u live and should probably move.
I think tourists suck in everybody's city, especially if you work in hospitality.

Sorry I was having a bad day. My apologies..
It's Funny you mention that I am moving up Island next month.

I mean, going back to the trade, maybe I just haven't watched PLD enough? Centers are definitely more valuable, but Laine, if he's on his game, can be a pretty dominant force in his own right, even as a winger.
Roslovic is key; if he can be a #2 center, that's a solid pickup; kid is from Columbus, so he will be highly motivated...
i suppose Laine has some question marks because of RFA status, but if anyone can get him to sign, its Jarmo...

Jarmo definitely has the cap space. I was under the impression Laine wanted a warm climate and a big city though. Laine may get traded again if thats the case.

I think Laine wants top line minutes to get a top of the league payday. I could see him being happy in Columbus.

Have to love Jarmo Kekalainen. Was it hard to trade guy you picked third in the draft.
No, We got the guy picked second in the same draft.
If Laine produces and buys into Torts team concept , he will get all the ice time can handle.

It was all mind games to convince Edmonton that Puljujarvi had value even though none of Columbus, Vancouver or Calgary wanted him. They fell for it and didn’t take Tkachuk.

If/When we move on from Tre, Jarmo is at the top of my list for the next GM.

Elliott Friedman was just on SN960 with Pat Steinberg talking about this trade:
· He says that a one-for-one deal was essentially on the table already at the draft featuring Dubios and Laine, but CBJ wanted Roslovic included which held things up.
· The delay was in hopes that CBJ could convince Dubois to stay, but the Friday game eliminated any possibility of that.
· Calgary was never very close; based on what I heard it sound like CBJ's target from the Flames was Tkachuk, and that Calgary was offering Gaudreau. (But bear in mind, it was difficult to gauge whether these were actual pitches, or if this was only Friedman's speculation.)

Elliot was pushing to be one of the best insiders in the business. I'll admit, now when I hear him it is 50/50 whether he's purely speculating or actually has inside info.
He's gone from an absolute must listen/watch to take it or leave it for me. His speculation is often far too wild for me to take him seriously. Now that he has cred, he seems happy to just wildly speculate about anything and everything with little concern for reality.

I used to take him seriously and actually listen to what he said because I felt that he was genuinely trying to pass on solid information as best as he could.
But over the last couple years, he has digressed into a typical media guy - all hype and bluster. All credibility is gone, IMO.

I think one of the problems for Friedman is he is on the fan 2x per week and doing radio hits in all the cities and those stations want to hear about the local teams. I remember when he would speculate and then disappear from the fan for months because he would say something like “I wonder if the Pens might listen on Malkin” and then these transcribers who post his radio hits would take things out of context and he would get crap from teams and agents.
I think now as the main insider on SN he is encouraged to stir that pot with speculation. I don’t like that he says the Flames offered GaudreU without knowing for sure as that can cause issues that are not needed here.
On the other side of the coin you get Chris Johnston on the radio and he never has anything on the flames and generally gives a pretty boring interview for an insider.
