Default 2019 Development Camp invitees

A report out of Sweden's Sportsbladet says that the Flames have invited defenceman Johannes Kinnvall to their development camp.

https://www.eliteprospects.com/playe...annes-kinnvall

Still has a year to go on this SHL contract. Not the biggest guy, but has some offensive skill.

5-11, 180pds seems almost like the new normal now.
Must be another Loob connect.

Builds relationships, if not with the player, then with the agent. You'd have to think Loob is one of the most connected guys in Swedish hockey circles.

Maybe the kid signs with the Flames after his HV71 deal is up. Maybe the agent recommends the Flames development system to another player.

If he impresses, offer him a three-way contract and then pencil him in for a Norris Trophy in 2034...

There's also a handful of invites after the entry draft for kids who were passed over. We'll probably see three or four faces added.

I don't think they've officially announced it (likely waiting on finalizing invitees), but it's usually the first week of July.

D Montana Onyebuchi of the Kamloop Blazers has been invited according to the Blazers PbP guy Jon Keen

https://www.eliteprospects.com/playe...tana-onyebuchi

expect a lot of d-men to be invited as the Flames have only drafted Valimaki in the last 3 years

Hopefully if the Flames do invite some d-men, the Flyers don’t snake them like they did with Myers and then Zamula last year.

Onyebuchi was at Tampa's development camp last summer. Quite the face-puncher.

Development camp begins July 3.
Its in an article in The Athletic..

Not to mention the courting period when teams are allowed to interview unrestricted free agents. Wooing begins Sunday. The free agent market opens July 1. Development camp begins July 3.

Michigan State D Jerad Rosburg has been invited per Aaron Portzline. Will also attend Dallas' camp.

https://www.eliteprospects.com/playe.../jerad-rosburg

He will be Joshua Nodler's teammate this season.

First 10:20 minutes of this video is on Rosburg's story

Father is an NFL coach. That's not something you often see in a hockey player's bio.

It should mean he knows how to hit.

Add another Spartan to the list...

Tommy Miller: https://www.eliteprospects.com/playe...7/tommy-miller

Another big right-shot d-man.

Tied for SHL league lead for goals by blueliner.

Any undrafted from the 2019 draft D men on the radar?

There were still some interesting players after the draft ended. Hopefully the can dig a couple gems up.

Stockton is going to need some defensemen. Right now all I see the list of Development camp invites are a couple of NCAA kids and a Swedish guy still under contract in Sweden.

I didn't expect them to get anyone out of development camp.

Development camp is usually filled with unsigned draft picks, signed prospects, college free agents, major junior players passed over in the draft, and overage major juniors looking to go pro

Heat d-men looking like so far:

Andrew Nielsen - NHL deal
Rinat Valiyev - qualified RFA - think it is likely he signs. if he was going back to Russia he most likely have signed over there already
Alex Yelesin - NHL - likely starts in the AHL
Rob Hamilton - AHL
Corey Schueneman - AHL

They will likely fill out the rest of the roster with AHL journeymen or entice some NHL tweeners with 2 way deals that are NHL min salary and high AHL salary.

I wouldn't be surprised if Kylington starts in Stockton either, not sure they want him sitting as the 7th defenseman.
