^ there's reports that both the Browns and Colts offered him more money than the Cards did. He'll have his reasons for signing with Arizona, but it doesn't seem like he got lowballed by other teams.

So how do we feel about these proposals? I appreciate the Ravens committment to being progressive about football, but I think this one is kind of silly. The Belichick one is better, but I'm not sure it's any better than the current approach, other than it takes the coin toss out of it.

Per multiple sources with knowledge of the situation, the Ravens will be proposing a pair of overtime procedures premised on the concept of “spot and choose.”

It works like this: One team picks the spot of the ball to start overtime, and the other team chooses whether to play offense or defense.

If the one team picks, for example, the offense’s own 20 yard line, the opponent would then choose whether to play offense from their own 20 or to play defense, with the other team having the ball on its own 20. This would minimize greatly the impact of the coin toss; under this proposal, the coin toss would be used only to give the team that wins the toss the right to pick the spot of the ball (along with the end zone to be defended) or to choose offense or defense.

Under one of the two proposals to be made by the Ravens, overtime would proceed in sudden-death fashion, with the first score by either team ending the game and up to 10 minutes of extra time. (If the game remains tied at that point, the game’s outcome would be a tie.) Under the other proposal (favored, we’re told, by Patriots coach Bill Belichick), the game would continue for another seven minutes and 30 seconds, without a sudden-death component. Whoever leads after the extra time has ended would be the winner. (Again, if the game remains tied after the extra session, the game’s outcome would be a tie.)

As one source involved in the development of the proposal pointed out to PFT, it actually traces to an idea articulated in 2003 by our own Michael David Smith, who at the time wrote for FootballOutsiders.com.

Agreed, although I would like to see possession moved out to the 35 (or maybe 45) to take the easy field goal out of play and force teams to at least move the ball a few yards.

I agree with moving it to the 35 and give both teams possession. More exciting for fans with the potential of more scoring opportunities.

Cowboys are giving Dak Prescott a four-year, $160 million deal, including a record $126 million guaranteed, source tells ESPN.

The first three years average $42 million per year.

Zeke and Amari can pretty much pack their bags because they are definitely gone. And yeah I think this tells you Dak probably touches $45 million per if he makes it to market in a bidding war. Good for him, even better for Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson.

It could be going as poorly as possible and he'd still be getting $126 million guaranteed. Once Jerry saw what life in the wilderness without Dak was, combined with the franchise tag escalators, and Dak was always going to bend him over.

The one advantage for the Cowboys relative to other teams that are overpaying QBs is the NFC East absolutely sucks donkey dick. Unless Washington gets Deshaun or something the Cowboys are going to be favorites in that division for the next couple years, even if "favorites" means likely to go 7-10, but that will likely be enough to win that division for the next couple of years.
