Default August 7 with six games.

The Friday OOT should be a thriller as all games have a team on the brink of elimination. There could be 2 more canadian teams going on to the next round and 2 being eliminated. Go Bhawks, BJs, Wild, and Habs!

This will be one of the more interesting out of town scoreboards that we have in a long time. It's unlikely that we have a day with 6 games that can end a teams season in one day again in my lifetime.

Hopefully all the lower seeds in the West win today. If I could pick an opponent for the Flames it's Dallas. I would prefer to let Vegas and Colorado deal with another team before the Flames have to face them. St.Louis, I suspect will be better when it counts, but the Flames may be better suited to matchup against them, than the other two.

I want to see some OT chaos today. Through 6 days, we still haven't seen any of the early play-in games go to OT and force the later games to delay their starts.

With 6 elimination games on tap, I think today could be the day it happens.

If the earlier games go long and push the start times of the final games to after 10pm local time, will they consider bumping the late games to tomorrow afternoon? With the Flames and Canes winning already, there's an open schedule slot in both cities tomorrow (and that's without today's results), so they could do it.

After watching him this season, I'm relieved the Flames had no shot at Bobrovsky. He had been putrid for a long stretch now.

Goaltending is weird.

You need it to win...but it's impossible to predict who's going to actually be good year to year, and even from the regular season to the playoffs.

Matt Murray won two cups, and hasn't really ever been good in the regular season. Binnington was pretty much in the ECHL, and then went on a huge run.

So much relies on system, team play in front of you, and sometimes just getting hot since the playoffs are a small sample size.

It seemed destined that Hellebuyck would outplay Talbot...instead Hellebuyck has a .900 save percentage for the series, and Talbot puts up a .945

The position itself is extremely dependent on coaching and the system the team is playing in front of the goaltender.

Bobrovski had a good rookie year with the a good Flyers team with Laviolette coaching them. In his second year the Flyers lost Chris Pronger early in the season and he did not put up great numbers, and likely was impacted by them signing Bryzgalov. He goes to Columbus and has two really good years under Todd Richards on teams who played a pretty tight system, still somewhat influenced by the Tyrant who was Ken Hitchcock. But the team loosens up in Richards last year and they start 0-7 the next year which results in a coaching change. In Tortarella's first full year, he has another great season, and plays pretty well after that. Although with a bit more talent last year the Jackets were a bit more open style. He goes to Florida...and again struggles behind a looser team. Meanwhile the guys who step in for him in Columbus with a lesser talented team than the previous year have good seasons because the team tightens up considerably on defence.

The common thing is Tallon liking a Tortarella coached goaltender and not getting great value out of the player in free agency. He did it with Khabibuilin...is doing it again now with Bob.

Just look at Bryzgalov from Pheonix to Philly as another example. I'd never want to overpay for a free agent goalie coming from a defensively sound team.

And Bryzgalov's backup in Philly?

Sergei Bobrovsky.

The Score app is showing the Oilers/Hawks game starting at 4:45 PM.

Not having a TV around me, which one is accurate?

Last one was in 1988.

Arizona up 1-0 over Nashville off a goal by Grabner. If it holds, AZ makes it for the first time since they were Phoenix and went to the WCF in 2012.

I know you have a soft spot for Arizona...but for me, I want to see this hold plus at least one other upset to keep the Flames clear of playing Vegas or Colorado in the first round. Granted St.Louis would be a tough team, but they seem a bit more out of sorts right now.

Phil Kessel with an incredible shot off a turnover makes it 2-0 Coyotes.

Arizona and Chicago winning today would be great, STL or DAL look like the better matchups for the Flames by far.

A Minnesota win to force a game 5 would be nice too.

Speaking of first goals of the series, Matt Duchene has scored to make it 2-1.

It is 4:45 PM. It was a typo and it's fixed now.
