Well well, the fact it’s split squad is giving me a nice lineup to see for the preseason.

The strength of the Flames D depth is incredible, even in a split match game where Tanev and Kylington are not playing. That Vancouver D group for the Flames is obviously the weaker of the splits, but it's actually still pretty solid. With that said, I've been a big fan of DeSimone whenever I've seen him play, so maybe I'm overestimating.

I noticed the same thing! The other thing I noticed is that with Kadri not playing the center ice depth on the squad going to Vancouver will, to put a positive spin on it, give us a chance to see Rooney and see if Rudzicka has improved but it may be a little lacking. Lindolhm, Backlund with Huberdeau and Milano and of course Weegar are all in Calgary.

The Vancouver game is on SN, and I believe it is a national broadcast.

Lucic, Ritchie, Klapka, Zadorov, Ruzicka in Vancouver. It’s a monster invasion of a coastal city.

Hopefully that’s the starting 5, and they yardsale on puckdrop, ala Hartley vs Torts.
Now that’s how you start a season.

Think I'll watch the start of the game in Vancouver but then switch over to the Flames website to catch Huberdeau and Weegar in the second game in Calgary.

I am intrigued to see the Zadorov and Maloche pairing. Could be the 3rd line D to start the season.

With all the mass shootings that have taken place in the last decade or so, I would say that such a move would be in very poor taste. I doubt the Flames organization would allow it for this very reason.

Yes, because Klapka will turn into a serial killer

I don't recall saying that. Just that it would be in poor taste. Is reading difficult for you?

I am intrigued by the fact that zary is playing on the more nhl heavy squad in cgy whereas pelletier is on the team in Vancouver.

I don't think there is any mystery, here. Zary is a centre; Pelletier, a winger. Zary is a spot-holder for Kadri while he is out of game action.

I'm waffling on the home game. Not sure I want to watch the all of 7 minutes of ice the top line is going to get whilst operating at maybe 60 percent effort. Edit: actually it's the home game I'll watch. There's enough try out guys on that group to watch. Milano and Zary as the primary people I'll focus on.

It'd be really nice if Zary just picked up where he left off before breaking his ankle last camp. He looked poised to steal a spot.
