No he's not injured, but I'm pretty sure he had a broken thumb in the playoffs after the Kane hit. Kadri was saying that he couldn't even tie his skates on when he came back in the final. I'm pretty sure it's all healed by now, Sutter's just giving him some extra time.

Edit: here’s what was said. I don’t want to give false information by phrasing things wrong.

Darryl Sutter spoke…most interesting thing he said was that they'll ease Nazem Kadri into the lineup after his short summer where he was recovering from injury.

I don't think we'll see much of Kadri or Chris Tanev in the early pre-season games.

Yeah there's no need to push Kadri. IMO we should be just fine if he didn't suit up until the last preseason game. Cup runs are hard hard miles. And they can afford to give him the runway.

Edit: plus Kadri didn't appear to even have much of a summer. A small vacation during FA and then a full cup media tour and then signing and then home shopping and travel and...and...and..

Just not a lot of R&R in a short time frame.emtal fatigue would be on par as physical.

Watching these interviews...I'm getting the feeling the flames locker room is probably so great right now and the players are all really happy and excited to be here. There's an outright confidence in these players' demeanors I haven't seen in Calgary for a long time. And all these players actually seem like really good people. I haven't seen this vibe in years. I know the players said last year was good, but this seems like a whole different level.

A lot of the guys seem to have wanted Johnny to stay. No one - including Sutter - seems sad Chuckie is gone. Meanwhile, guys in Florida and Colorado are talking about how great Huberdeau, Weegar and Kadri are as people.

Well said. I think the team is full of mature, team-first players. There doesn’t seem to be any baggage anymore. We have a team full of men, and many of them have experience winning the Stanley cup.

We're a bit like early Vegas in that the Flames are mostly guys deemed expendable by their former teams, but with higher quality expendables.
