If it's like the NBA, the "authentic" jerseys with ads will cost even more.
Do they even sell jerseys with ads? I just looked at the NBA online store and none of the "Authentic" jerseys for sale have the ads on them.
My only concern with the NHL ads is there's already an overabundance of patches on most teams' jerseys. Between anniversary and special event patches, plus shoulder patches and Captains' letters, it can all get pretty crowded already.
Look at this abomination from the ASG a couple of years ago...
Where can you even put an ad on that mess?

That's the all star game though. As the ASG jerseys have always demonstrated, it's fine to wear something terrible at the ASG.
On the ice... yeah. Not a fan. I certainly won't be buying any jerseys with ads on them. I draw the line at the manufacturer of the jersey itself having its logo on it.
Also, I'm expecting half the teams in Canada to have Rogers logos on them now. And #### Rogers. That company sucks. I'm sure someone will have Bell or Telus which isn't really any better.

From that article in the tweet here they got $100M from the helmet ads this past season, that's a lot and I didn't think it would be that much. There's no going back from that.
I'm okay with it as long as I can buy a jersey still without an ad on it.
I'm gonna guess half or more will be gambling sites. It took North American sports forever to integrate gambling, but it's going to be the go to way to grow sports for the foreseeable future.
As always though I'm rooting for at least one CondomDepot.com patch.

With the flag patches officially gone, there is plenty of room on the current jerseys for a small advertisement. No biggie. I get that people like tradition though, so opposition is understandable too.

What advertiser would you like to see? What would be the most 'Calgary'?
Chicken on the Way?
I doubt they could afford it.
One thing I've really become aware of the last couple years is that pro sports and athletes are not regular normal people. So as far as these ads go, the NHL doesn't care what fans think and neither should they really. It's about money and how much they can make, look at F1 racing for example. It's not even that popular in NA but yet it's one of the richest sports.
Covid sucked but don't soil your jerseys just for some extra chump change.
Yes I notice how rich people always turn down more money and are definitely altruistic and care about the integrity of things when making more money is possible.

I know they won’t but the league should force these ads to colour match and blend with the jersey. Less of an eyesore…the ones that naturally matched the helmets weren’t even that noticeable IMO…the contrasting ones were terrible.

If you can't buy a jersey without the ad on it my days of buying jersey's are done. I'm more than willing to display my fandom, but I'm not paying to be a billboard
