Andrew Walker has had Pat Steinberg and Jermain Franklin on in the last month. So I don’t think the networks have any control over it. Maybe they cant be paid but they can definitey be on podcasts.

Why can't a Rogers employee to go a 'competitor' podcast?

^ Exactly. Sportsnet pays Friedman to be their top insider and spill the beans on Sportsnet properties. They care less if Greg Millen goes on a podcast to discuss his time with the Blues.

You can still be interviewed as a guest of course. I would be pretty surprised if someone like Elliott could do insider stuff on a non-Rogers podcast.

He's a regular on the Dhaliwal and Taylor podcast which (I think?) is non-Rogers

I was thinking the same thing. Otherwise he’ll be 2 weeks into the season before his gear is setup.

CHED has boosted their signal so that it comes in crystal clear in Cochrane. So now when I am out (at the times of day when I need to drive) I flip to FAN and get Rome or CBS Radio and then flip to CHED where they are talking NHL. The odd time a baseball game is on, and I enjoy the flow of baseball commentary, so I'll listen to that on the rare time.

This 4 hours of local sports coverage a day is becoming a real wood snapper . Will this continue in the regular season?

so if a guy like bommer hosts a podcast - how does he monetize that? jsut plain old advertising?
Like he will stop talking sports to make mention of a new product from ACME and then go back to talking sports?

He should use the sustainable value-for-value model pioneered by the Adam Curry and John C. Dvorak on the No Agenda show. It's kept them in business for over 17 years now. No annoying ad breaks needed.
