The current Urban Fare (underneath the Canadian Tire on 8th Street in the beltline) is changing to Save On Foods on April 25.

I don't live in the area, but have strolled through a couple of times. Nice store and vibe, but not a cheap place. Not surprised to see it changed to a Save On, which to me seems more in tune with where regular people in the Beltline would shop.
Still a shame that London Drugs pulled out of that area and hasn't returned. Was always busy.

Save on Foods probably isn't going to be that much cheaper although they often do have some pretty decent sales and offers in their app. Urban Fare and Save on Foods are part of the same group and I wouldn't expect much to change there.

I've had a few things from Urban Fare and just found it overpriced and not really worth it as far as the take out goes.

True. But Urban Fare is their high end brand (it was honestly off the charts), so Save On will still be an improvement. I agree that Save On definitely isn't cheap compared to other "regular" grocery stores though.

Urban Fare was the closest grocery store to me, so i shopped there quite a bit.
If we needed big shopping trips (not often) we would go to safeway or co-op; but used UF for a lot of small trips. Not cheap, but as mentioned the store had a nice vibe to it.
I was surprised how many people ate there during lunch, and much more surprised how many people used the wine bar in there after work. Although i suspect it wasnt enough.
It will be nice to have cheaper food closer to me though.

Apparently there was a clause in the Westbrook lands purchase by Matco that the city could buy it back after a period of time and has allegedly done so.

Yup, just one giant Tim Hortons for commuters. Drive thru's as far as the eye can see.

A big Buccee's wouldn't fit on the Westbrook site...or at the least it would be a tight squeeze. They are truly insanely massive.

The Glamorgan location (formerly Mountainview Bowl) is having a renovation, and I fear that they’ll remove the 5 pin lanes and make everything 10 as well. I looked online and saw a video clip of someone playing on the 5 pin lanes in Kingston for the last time, as they were getting removed in a renovation as well.
I know that 5 pin bowling is unique to Canada, which may make parts and equipment a little harder to find. But the 5 pin lanes always seem well utilized. So is 5 pin dying, and is Splittsville (and their UK parent company) digging the grave?

^ I couldn’t help my own curiosity, so I called Glamorgan and asked about 5 pin. He said that they are reducing the number of 5 pin lanes from 10 to 6. So there must be some demand for 5 pin still, just less. They must have a good idea of what’s popular, so this must reflect demand. But 5 pin is still kicking I guess.

Banquet Bar in University District has 4 lanes of "duck bowling" which is 5 pin balls/pins, but with 10 pins, and the lane is much shorter than a normal one - it's a great time for younger kids as they have a fighting chance of getting the ball all the way down.

Is the bowling alley at Chinook still around? I think that's the only thing in the mall that has managed to survive all the different renovations over the years.
